I think you've explained this well - London has better infrastructure & greater access to opportunity. I agree with your argument when it comes to London vs Other Capital Cities. But I'd strongly disagree if you're comparing London to other parts of England. I think you can attribute any greater representation in the Professional game largely to the population density. London is FOUR times more populous than the 2nd largest, Birmingham. So it's little wonder that most pro-footballers are Londoners. Looking up the 9 largest English city regions, London makes up 51% of the combined population. So you'd roughly expect 1 in every 2 English footballers to be Londoners. Looking at the lineup against Holland, just 4 of the starting 11 grew up in London (Kane, Rice, Saka, Guehi). It's actually only the Greater Manchester region which over-achieved (Tripper, Mainoo, Foden). That said, I'm cherry-picking my stats to make my case as a Northerner! Great vid!

Some london born players might play for countries that didn’t qualify for the world cup, and the world cup was in 2022 - it’s definitely possible (and it’s true) that a lot of young talents from london have emerged since then.

Part of it is how diverse the gene pool is. We have genes from every corner of the planet growing up in a football culture with a bucketload of academies and avenues to ball your way through the ranks. I don’t know why we’re scared to talk about the genetic side if it. Blended gene pools produce better athletes. I think it’s because on every street there was a small pitch and you could invite your friends and play in zones and learn skills and apply them to your game. Also there is a lot of clubs to join (Sunday league) and lots of academy’s. If you want to learn about this there is a Netflix show called south of the river with Rio Ferdinand etc

Hudson-Odoi got scouted by Chelsea aged 7 and got sent to private school paid by Chelsea for £20k a year, that footage in the video is him in the process of being pampered lol. It would have been nice to mention the tiered football academies system and the commodification of children. Pre-Brexit Children were coming over to academies from other countries to train in Cobham etc. They are technically produced in London and "home grown". The pressure of football academies and the devastating impact it has on them when they are released is not always delved into deep enough. Especially as many of the kids grades suffer to pursue football. (Credit to City for paying for fancy private schools with special curriculum for their academy). Plus that 1.4billion will be inflated due to the PL having home grown requirements and being by far the largest spenders in the transfer market. Contrast that to Bilbao who barely release players, try not to buy or sell players and are much more closely linked to grassroots football in the area you get a disturbing view about how the English football pyramid has commodified kids. Look how many 17/18 year old were traded this year to meet PSR.

There is a reason why 80% of the managers and players in the premier league are foreign. If it was only English players, then the skill level would be comparable to the MLS, or League 1/EFL Championship. Combined market value does not mean that the players are actually good. This is a correlation causation fallacy; we know that let of the English players are severely overvalued because they are English and play in the premier league.

@@edwardelric715 yamal’s euro tournament was so overrated, he had 1 good goal and now he’s the best rw itw? whereas salah and saka have been consistent for the past few years? standards are so low these days… Foden is better than all of them except musiala, who he’s on the same level as, and you can’t blame him for bad euro performances when his manager doesn’t know how to get anything out of him, this is why i keep saying national team performances aren’t a good metric for measuring players’ quality. Carvajal just happened to play for winning teams, doesn’t mean he was individually better than trent
