It reminds me of a similar instance with those beige house spiders that are fairly small (Very common in Ontario, Canada at least) and my dad said they're harmless and won't bite. Well, I saw one on the wall right next to me where I sit on my PC, and decided to place my hand on the wall and see what happens. Only after 10-20 seconds, the spider made its way to my hand and tried to bite one of my fingers, and it actually hurt, but didn't break the skin. Idk where I'm going with this, I guess the point is; a lot of things will try to eat you, if they have the chance.
