I came here via your link in the Reddit post "Anybody used the commercial brush cutter vs the attachment for the power head" You were the only one on the post who answered the OP''s question as most (Americans, as I am) diverged to much and never got close to addressing the question. For some reason that is our National habit to answer by giving what we want to talk about rather than the direct question. Excellent job. 🤣Your video is also the best! I live in U.S.A. Northern Louisiana and the brush is different here, it often is filled with wild vines and saplings more than the brush that you seemed to be tackling. However, you did an amazing job of demonstrating the battery length and the depth of what you can tackle and how quickly it can be done when using the EGO Power+ BCX4500 Commercial Bike Handle Brush Cutter. Your video demonstrates what JustNeedHelp (and myself) wanted to know. While it did not compare the two, you explained that in your answer above and the video demonstrates that you can indeed move much more quickly side to side than the more straightforward motion of the attachment version. I was amazed to see the area and dense material you tackeled and how briskly you did it. One note: The product and the blade is different in the U.S. where it is more of a tri-blade points rather than single blade like yours. So, I would think that the tri-blade would yield even more impressive cuts even for Louisiana vines and saplings.

I run a ground maintenance business, strimming we do the most of, carry petrol oil around in a separate bag, half the time walking backwards on forwards for tools is a nightmare. Just happened to see these in our local farm shop. Then, I started doing my research and found your channel. The strimmer I do like, so I'm tempted to buy one.

Got a BCX4500 here in Australia, have a few 7.5ag batteries. Use it to clear electric fence lines for our pig paddocks. Beautiful but of kit. Love it

I've just ordered the Milwaukee M18 brushcutter, with two 8ah batteries. I only have long grass to cut, so should be fine! For the really thick crap, I'll continue to use my Husqvarna 535LK with the Oregan mulching blade! Was never sure about battery equipment, but i bought the Milwaukee M12 hatchet last year, and it has been excellent!

I actually bought the US version of this same brushcutter about three months ago when it first came out here. Been running it on 7.5s, and I've never managed to run the darn thing out, it just goes *forever*, and has enormous power as well!

I have one also, can confirm it runs longer than I want to go on a 7.5ah battery. Impressive honestly.

Generally, i get a lot longer run time on my ego brushcutters (i have had 4 commercial units) and running a metal head uses way less power (generally speaking and depending on what you are cutting) than with a nylon line. that has been the same on every model i have had. Less wind resistance im guessing

One thing to remember is every time you stop ie clearing something wrapped round the blade or going between areas etc allows the battery to cool and can give you 1 or 2 bars back. Had this a couple times with my ego stuff

Yeah same with any power source I guess, like a car battery. On this test we stopped the clock every time Josh stopped, but he never stopped for long, hence his fatigue 😂

I got the BCX4500 here in Australia last year, at the time they were giving away free 7.5ah batteries. I've got a couple of 5ah from my mower and chainsaw so can brush cut all day. Highly recommend this tool if you are in the EGO eco system. I agree with the comment on the harness, i may have to upgrade that at some point. Especially as it puts all the weight on my old collarbone injury.

I’ve got the Stihl KMA135, I normally use the second power setting for strimming/brush cutting, on a AP500S I reckon it lasts somewhere around 30-40 minutes.

Just over an hour,on one battery. So, would need machine, and two batteries. Big outlay, unless going to get other Ego products. Also, how many recharges will the batteries take? All be keeping my Titan,I paid £100 for. Do have a few Greenworks items, and happy with them.

I have just one 7.5Ah battery, lasted about 30 minutes, but I used string head and there was tall grass and lots of light brush. I did about 1/8th of the work needed with it. I'm definitely not going to buy 7 more batteries, and I'm gonna have to use the gas again. The cutter is lovely to work with, I used the backpack to carry the battery, the tool in hand is then super, super light, compared to the gas one. Too bad the fuel is inadequate...

Have you considered comparing it with Stihl FSA 200? Or at least if you can write your thoughts in comment, thanks!

Looks good. I've used a Stihl FSA 130 before with the massive 40AH backpack battery. You really didn't need to worry about runtime with that. I think the battery alone was £1,500, though! I've got a Stihl 2-stroke Kombi engine with some attachments. Would like to give the electric stuff a go, but as it's mostly a hobby/ volunteer thing for me, it's just too expensive.

That’s awesome feedback, thank you. Yes it a bit of a jump to start with but once you’ve got the batteries and charger, it does then work out quite cost effective to add more tools.

I would buy the EGO every time … but let’s be realistic here, that 10 A/hr battery weighs 3.4Kgs and equates to around 4.7 Lts of fuel or 9 hours of runtime in an ICE brush cutter. Or, that battery in a commercial situation would be lucky to go 500 cycles before it becomes a short runtime dead weight, which equates to 1 year in a commercial situation. To replace a 10 a/hr battery in the UK is £470 which equates to 156 hours of fuel runtime in an ICE.

I feel I might have made a mistake, I like Milwaukee and all my workshop/diy tools are Milwaukee, I went down the route of buying a Milwaukee chainsaw. I now feel for my OPE stuff ego might have been a better choice as the range is so much greater!! Thought?

How much would it cost for 4 10amp batteries
@MachineryNation
@MachineryNation 7 ай бұрын
Depends where you get it from, best to give it a Google 👍🏼 if you add up the fuel you would use in a year and workout how much your batteries, the batteries would cost about 18p each to charge as a reference.

I’m surprised that one battery kept the machine going for that long, if I’d made a bet on that maximum of half an hour I had in my head, I’d certainly be a few quid down right now.

I hate you electric tool videos. Electric garden tools are crap there over priced and it takes thousands of gallons of diesel to mine the batteries. You could spend £400 on a stihl Bush cutter and do the same job without having to pay and wait to charge them. Batteries tools should be kept to drills and impactors and small tool. Fuck the batteries. Rock on 2 stroke.

Hate’s a strong word, but thanks 👌🏽 They are not for everyone, some prefer petrol, some prefer battery. It’s good to be broad minded about these things as it’s not only about a personal preference, it’s about providing the information people need.

Here in Canada, the base unit will cost me around $549 tool only, each 10A battery is retail $649 although I have seen a sales price of $519, the CH2800D dual charger will run me $249 but still need a/c source. I'm still trying work out how to schedule an electric brushcutter used through an 8 to 10 hr day. I have a couple FS131, and couple gas cans, and as needed I can top up the gas cans in between drives to clients. Whether its gas or electric will always need backup, last thing the customer will want is to hear me say - sorry, ran out of juice or unit's done, I'll come back tmw....
