Hi Sam, sorry that happened to you. Bamboo is such a good material for frame building. You're right, those fibers i think they're hemp which is plenty strong for normal riding but for a jump/ pumptrack bike i'd use carbon fiber. We run a bamboo guided tour business here in barcelona, and our bikes have their joints put together with both fiberglass and carbon fiber and we use them on a daily basis and they hold up pretty well. Some of them are 8 years old with no signs of weakening or cracks. Loved the video, have a nice day everyone!

See if you guys can figure out a way to make the joint's more resist to shock. To be honest I'd totally start downhill mtb again on a bamboo frame if it could handle the shock and stress of going down what's pretty much a cliff

The bamboo didn't fail though, the weird fibre resin mix used to bond it at the nodes did. I figure a bike made from bamboo that's lugged with carbon or titanium would be really solid and comfy. I'd even go as far as saying that a titanium lugged bamboo rigid MTB for weekend trips may be one of my biking dreams. Triple triangle because why not, elevated chainstays because why not, Surly Moloko bars, Shockstop stem and seat post, the mint equipment.

He bought it second hand too. Many resins and plastics especially old fashioned ones deteriorate over time from age and they turn super brittle like in this video.
