Its so amazing you came to ride at the mountain my boyfriend and I frequent every weekend! We decided to watch an hour of finals between riding on sunday, and you were there in the crowd! I couldnt believe it! The best part was I got to meet you in person and get a picture with you. That small moment will stand out in my memory as one of the best moments of my life. As someone whos only been riding for the last 2 years, watching your videos inspire me to constantly push myself and aim to do better. You are hands down my favorite rider, from your skill to the content you make to your down to earth personality! You never fail to amaze me by being able to do a flare on literally anything, especially at the pump track we ride on here in Vernon. I was so heart broken when I watched this because I could tell how let down you were at not being able to compete after placing for finals. But just know I was just as excited to see you there in the crowd as I would have been to see you ride! I hope your injury heals quickly and you can continue to kill it at riding, because I know you would have been on that podium and you deserved to be on it. You make every day epic for fans like me, dont let this small defeat keep you down. I know youll rise above it and come back better than ever!

Listen Sam, you're still da best, man! I mean that sincerely. Back when i used to do all the crazy stuff on my bike slopestyle wasn't even a thing yet, lol. U just had bearclaw switching over from bmx and doing stuff like flat drop 360s. Just thank your lucky stars that you've been able to do all that you have and pray that u never have a major low back injury because they can be absolutely career ending. You're starting to fill that old veteran spot like Ryan nyquist did a few yrs ago when he switched over briefly to mtb where u are always going to get the roar of the crowd and be a fan favorite anytime u make the finals regardless of the finish. I've always been a fan since u first burst on the tour as a young bright eyed bushy tailed buck all those years ago and you've already reached the summit, man. Not that many people can say they ever had a 1st place finish at a major fmb event much less no. 1 for the season. Keep your head up, mate and keep on shredding. You're an inspiration to us old geezers and more importantly to the young kiddos on the come up that keep pushing and progressing the sport
