I locked mine for 8 yrs also and due to our religion I would like to but can't cut it.I really want to redo all over again. But listening to you my idea is to stop retighten the root and leave it to just grow while I only brush the root for neatness. I saw person with a whole entire inches of regrown root with only locking from the middle to end and it looks real neat

April 2023 was the last time I retighten my then locs. I knew I had it in mind to comb out, hence, why that was the last time. It was October 2023 when I started combing my locs out, which I did gradually. If you have the time and patience, you can get it done and also have a fresh set of locs.

Why did you cut it ?. Sisters in first church lock their hair.

I know sisters do. I didn't cut it. I pull most of it from the end to the new growth then I separated the new growth and pull off the rest of the hair for what was left.
