Howdy! Is there a temperature difference between the old and new fuel when burning?

I have a full can that might or might not be opened. I usually forget it and buy fuel. The small bottles last a long time for me. The only OK stores I know about is Ok Auto Parts and OK hardware. I could surmise it not being the auto parts store because I don't remember them having fuel. I haven't been to the ardware store but I am sure they carried it. Since it is in the middle of Wisconsin and in business since 1959 where people came from all over the country for fishing and hunting who knows where stuff ended up. With that name it could be a number of old stores with the name.

Looks like my AFC lantern. I just used up the last of an old can I had from the 70s

I have a can of Coleman fuel at least 40 years old. I used it two years ago in my Coleman stove and it worked just fine. My 40 year old Coleman fuel can has a red plastic cap. My gas can looks like your vintage gas can.

A taste test was probably not appropriate, But it seems to be working well with the older fuel, have a bunch of older fuel and think I’ll use it up. Youre right about storing the stuff not the best of ideas. Thanks for sharing See you next week.

I've been taste testing taste testing fluuuiidss foor mannny yyears and aint nnooothing wronggg wit meee. wrronng wit meee. I've beeeen ttastinng. :) Seriously, that's always been my joke to see what fluid or is it OK. Sometimes I really do depending on the fluid. Got a $300 drum of washer fluid one time that was straight water and did that in front of the sales rep to prove it. LOL.

I have to wonder if today's fuel would stay as fresh. I have had butane, propane, and natural gas go bad over the last few years. The natural gas in my shop lines went bad after 9 months and had to have the gas company come bleed everything from the meter in. Only use it for heat about 3 months a year. 20# propane tanks and the little butane cans for lighters both took a few years. All that said, I keep about 8 cans of Crown white gas on hand for emergencies.

You should try a newer can. I bout a new lantern and fuel in about 2005, used it a couple times then after a few years went to use it again and the fuel had varnished and plugged up the lantern.
