I’ve had them start to cloud up around week 7 and never go amber then harvest all the way out in week 12 or 13 without a single amber dot anywhere. GDP, Widow, GG4 have all gone to week 12 without amber and they’re all alleged 8 week cultivars.

Did they fade at Week 8 or 9 and then just survive for another four weeks? Or did they fade later around week 12 or 13?

Thank you for this, I never knew a lot of this, and it explains I think why I don't ever see a lot of amber, or rely on that for harvest time. The biggest lessons I've learned are 1: if you don't have enough light, everything else is gonna be a guessing game, you'll never get a fully ripe plant so start with environment, light, temp, humidity and get that as close as you can first before you start looking at trichomes. 2: once that's correct, you'll know when your flowers have stopped growing because you can just see it. Everything changes, the stigmas are 90% orange or gone/swollen into the calyx, the buds take on a "sheen", you can just learn to see what this looks like. Also once the swelling is 95% stopped then you're in the ripe zone. 3: use high quality nutes that don't get a salt build up, and don't stop feeding them until you're to the point where you'd harvest. Then give it another week or at least 3-4 days where you flush. That's it.

Towards the end of the plants life, you'll notice the plant drinks a lot less (heavy flower pots for longer), Close to harvesting then. Have you tried using chicken shit pellets? Add them at the start, when you transfer to the big pot. All you need to do is water, 'cos the chicken shit has everything the plant needs. So no need to waste money feeding your plant all the way to the end, 'cos there's no need to do that !

If it calls for 8 weeks flower that's when I start checking trichomes and it's usually clear to cloudy, by end of week eight they look like pearls, following week trichomes start shrinking and amber starts kicking in, I harvest at 3% amber. At this time I notice leaves are starting to yellow and die. I have to actually calm myself down and not harvest too early wait for your amber. I also remove CO2 bags, stop all fertilizers except flower fuel, for me I see a difference with trichomes changing to amber. When your leaves start dying game on. It's also true they drink least, I water just before chopping so that moisture gives it a slow 14 day dry. Happy growing everyone, I'm doing the Happy dance harvesting at the moment and pushing 3 pounds easy.

Pay attention to smells early flower I smell skunky, spice, pine and floral. Just before harvest the smells change different smells softer floral and spices comes out,, this is a sign I look for she becomes sweeter. I accidentally cut a bud from Bergman's Golden Leaf, her smell is strong but sweet different tones come out before harvest. Green Bodhi Mystery Haze and Hazy Girl unbelievable sweetness.

I have a quick question, do they continue to mature after harvest? I would assume not but I figured I would ask where some folks might have some actual knowledge on this topic. TIA

Yes Clear is pure All of the color change after that is oxidation You control the level of oxidation during cure Heat , moisture , and air all speed oxidation Freeze dry has the least loss

oxidation is not maturation

since the amber color comes from environmental factors, then yes the degradation will continue. part of the curing process, thats why you should dry and cure in the dark

I was wondering when you take your ppm reading do you ad your water ppm plus your nutrient ppm or just your nutrient ppm
@WheelgunsOnWheels
@WheelgunsOnWheels 11 ай бұрын
Add water ppm to the sum total. That’s why it’s better to use RO or distilled water. If you’re out of the tap at 250 you really shouldn’t give full dose nutes because you’ll be in the low thousands which prevents ion exchange which is how nutes get absorbed.
@recursiveidentity
@recursiveidentity 4 ай бұрын
yeah ph readings are probably more important honestly, otherwise they're not getting absorbed. ppms can stay under 600 really and you'll still be fine. my water is around 150 and I go up to 600-700 at the most. Also light intensity is important too of course

So how do you fix the no amber problem?
@recursiveidentity
@recursiveidentity 4 ай бұрын
rely on bud structure and stigmas more than trichs and harvest anyway when the buds look ready and stop swelling, and the plant stops drinking, don't flush and keep feeding till near the very end with organic

That science lecture explains to you that you cant give a certain time frame since it has too many variables. Just wait until you see them turn amber or harvest if it takes too long.

@ybsheep

Cloudy is the peak in THC level. Amber trichomes will give a stronger body high while cloudy gives more of a head high. Since its sativa dom, cloudy is the way to go either way imo 👍
