If someone had just told me, go learn to roller skate, I would have just gone at my own pace without stressing and giving up. Instead I was watching all these good Instagram skaters thinking that's how it's supposed to be when you start. Ignore the internet! Just do your own thing

Yes exactly! I’ve been skating since March and what, it’s almost end of June? I can’t do transitions, fancy turns, backwards, tricks whatever but I don’t care! I feel so happy just being on the skates and just cruising around jamming with music. All that matters to me is just balance and it’s super important to have specific goals for the type of skating you want (: cheers y’all!

I am definitely ruled by FEAR in so many aspects of my life, including skating. That is extremely hard to fight against.

You got this, one baby step at a time 🧡
@BiologicalClock2 жыл бұрын
You can do it! Falling looks scary, but that's what protective gear is for. It's difficult to balance at first, but once you get the basics down it's like riding a bike, your muscle memory just kind of takes over and it's so much easier. It's also a lot easier if you can take a beginner's class at an indoor rink, so that you don't have to worry about inclines, people rushing around your, or debris on the ground while you're just trying to get the basics down. Fear is definitely difficult to overcome, but if skating is something that interests you, I really hope you can give it a try because it's REALLY fun!

thank you for this ; _ ; I pushed everyone around me to start roller skating and they're all amazing now and I can barely skate forward. but they're all very adventurous motivated people and I'm extremely cautious about what I do.

Thank you it has been exactly the same for me. I pushed my boyfriend to buy skates and he was already able to do more than me within 2 days… I have been skating for 2 months :’( I’m pretty cautious too

I'm 40 and my skates are supposed to be delivered tomorrow. 🤗 I'm excited to get on skates. Not sure how I'll do since I haven't been on quad skates since I was a small child. However, I have done inline skating in my teens and early 20's. It's been at least 15 years since I've been on wheels but I'm hoping my inline experiences will guide me with quad skating.... I'm excited to see people my age trying new physical activities. 😁

Great video! Thanks! I recently started learning quad-skating and as you said it’s different skills to learn. I found two of the most important concepts are staggering both feet and then bending down both knees. With these two reminders for any beginner to follow and actually do it all the time, it will speed up the learning curves!

I am really lucky to have a full basement. Living in the Northeast sucks because our weather can be brutal! My husband and I either go down to our basement or use the skate park.He skateboards and I roller skate. I am in my early 40’s and have skated on and off since I was 6 or 7. I had to have a knee replacement just over a year ago and never thought I would be able to get back on my feet! Now I dance skate and am working on ramp skating! I love the journey and get so excited when it’s time to tie up my skates❤️

Thank you I really needed this. I’ve barely started and I thought I wasn’t learning fast like everyone! But I did have a slight injury to my toes, not for skating but for different reason. I had to wait and heal for almost a month but now I’m skating again and I have notice that I’ve built muscle memory, the past month recovering I was getting stared at by my skates. Never knew how skating can be so addicting but I’m back to square 1 and I’m determined to keep it going ✨😄

This is excellent advice. It is a journey, but it should be a fun one full of great memories. For me it was all the friends I made as a kid. I skated every weekend at our local roller rink’s with no drama, no hater’s and everyone was having fun. I’m 58 now and I have lost all of my skills, but I’m going to skate again. Baby steps baby steps baby steps lol. Thanks for the good advice.

I also live in the Midwest, and I don't live near any indoor rinks.😞 The only time I get to skate is in the spring/summer/maybe fall, and it feels like I have to relearn everything from the last summer. It never feels like I'm moving forward. And to top it off, I have no one to skate with 🥲 I've joined fb groups, Insta, tiktok, but none of the people I follow live near me, (it doesn't help that I have no means of transportation either 😅). I've even tried convincing my friends to start skating to no avail... But all of that is just excuses that won't stop me! Thank you for sharing this video! It's nice to hear every once in a while that we all go at our own pace on our journey through learning! It's motivating me to keep moving forward 🥰

I have been park skating for 6 years now. Because the park near me is very hard to skate I used to just do laps up and down and not tricks on the coping. Only just this year I have been doing tricks on the coping at a new park. It’s hard to see other people, skating for less time than you getting better quicker than you but it’s your own journey, you are not the same person. I like park skating because its an individual sport, not a competitive one.
