Have you ever waited for a new leaf to grow?
To watch it grow every day in slow motion as days turn into weeks?
It's frustrating isn't it?
Today I will show you how long it took between two leaves and we will see how this leaf evolves.
And make sure you stick until the end as I’ll tell you my tips on how to reduce the time between 2 leaves.
How long it takes for a Nepenthes to grow a one leaf? - 0:00
0:50 - How many days for a Nepenthes truncata to grow a new leaf?

You're blowing my mind! I'm having so much fun with Nepenthes! I just left a comment on your identification video. I have pitchers that are partly dying because I think I exposed them to too cold of weather. I live in Wisconsin so it's not the warmest yet but on some days recently it can get close to 60. I'm so excited to get my first plant outdoors to enjoy the good weather, but I forgot to bring it in one night. Thankfully I have one amazing beautiful pitcher still. Should I overfeed my half-dead pitchers!? You've also taught me that I have my first major leaf working its way into unfolding! You've made me so excited about my plant that I want more of them and I feel too impatient to watch it progress. I want to learn so much! Thank you! I'll keep going.

Haha thanks for sharing your excitement 😄 If you have a lot of half dead pitchers choose 1 but don't overfeed them all. That could be to much.

great video! ive always noticed tho my truncata has grown way faster than that and what people say it does, admittedly its still fairly small but it only takes about a month for the leaf to unfurl. Just as the pitcher on the previous leaf pops the new leaf has fully unfurled i find

Interesting! A few people with older n. truncata told me it was also super slow for them, that could be why for young plants it's faster...

80 days. Ouch. Good video. I do everything you do. I even cut the dead tops and yes it makes feeding much easier. I hate seeing dead leaves and pitchers so I always cut. For newer pitchers I give the dilute liquid fertilizer only so I don't kill it right away. That's been working well for me. Truncata is a slow plant. I have one that's faster than my others. Truncata is a weird plant. It's slow, it doesn't vine and it doesn't basal, so that's probably why it's rare in cultivation. Years ago they were more common even in tissue culture but I wonder what happened that you don't see them. They must have lost their cultures. If I ever get pure truncata seeds I'd love to donate a pod or two to a lab to get it back on the market at affordable prices.
@WindowsillNepenthes
@WindowsillNepenthes 2 жыл бұрын
I knew for the no-vine but I didn't knew that n. truncata don't basal... So that's 2/3 ways of propagation OUT 😵. These is some horticulture-cross of 2 truncata clones. But if you give a seedpod, that's super generous for sure!
@ScaryFear
@ScaryFear 2 жыл бұрын
@@WindowsillNepenthes It's extremely rare that truncata would basal. It would take something like trauma (damage to the main vine) for it to basal, or when it is very young like a seedling. I got luck that I bought a seed grown plant and it came with two. I'm waiting for them to get a decent size before I separate them. So something happened in the embryo for that one to have two growth points. I currently have had my biggest truncata growing at an angle trying to force a basal. It's been two months I think and nothing yet.

@@WindowsillNepenthes Oh no. I didn't know this. So no place for a new growth point to come out. What an annoying plant. Makes it very hard to survive and propagate.

Thank you for this! 80 days sounds about right for me. However I noticed that mine doesn't start to grow a pitcher until the leaf is fully grown. I recently moved it into a more shaded location because it was getting sunburnt under my Yescomms.
