They’re here and they’re … gone? But how long will this season last? They came late, they left … #tokyo #cherryblossoms #sakura

I think it would be so much fun to walk around Tokyo looking for Sakura trees and just enjoying the beauty of every one. Seeing the petals all on the ground makes me want to scoop them up and put them in a Ziploc bag and take them home. Lol. So beautiful!

Different strokes for different folks. When it comes to “best spots” don’t trust social media. It doesn’t work like that. Most of the posts are lies. You’ll find a line of people trying to get the same shot 😂

@onlyinjapanGO So true! I've seen many people on social media showcasing the Sakura season but many are going to the same places as everyone else. So not much excitement there. Just an overcrowding of foreign visitors. Love that you share places that are not overcrowded but also now the secrets out! Lol!

This is why I like your videos and streams. You give people a better understanding of Japan and how everything works. And especially regarding the topic Tokyo in general and cherry blossoms I can show my friends that it´s not always crowded and that this massive city does not have to feel to intimidating. Some of my friends think and/or say that Tokyo isn´t for them due to the concrete and highrise buildings and all the people everywhere. I have been interested in Japan and Tokyo for a very long time but it´s hard to describe in words that there is so much more to Tokyo than just the main tourist spots. I have learned that it can feel quite empty and spacious, depending where and how you approach your visit

Hi John! What a beautiful scenery of the Sakura Trees along the promenade by the river. I couldn’t agree with you more on venturing out to the countryside and embracing a more serene experience. I feel the reason why many tourist do not take this opportunity is due to language barrier and not fully understanding how to navigate. It’s one’s comfort level will prevent traveling around freely. It’s all about the adventure and full experience. I appreciate you explaining to viewers to always come out of your comfort zone and to take the risk where the results are well worth it. 👍🏼🌸

Lots of these tucked away spots where the masses don't go. One of my favourite places for cherry blossoms is asakusa. There's a park alongside sumida river on the asakusa side , quite a few cherry blossoms. Quiet and free 😎

Thanks John for the updates on the sakura in Tokyo. I hope you would be able to provide an update on this coming Saturday. We will arrive in Tokyo in the morning and hope to be able to catch at least the falling petals here at this Sumida river you are filming this livestream.

I ordered a bunch of sakura stuff to make cakes and sakura mochi. You know if you wait for autumn the cherry trees drop their leaves and they start to ferment and you can smell the sakura scent

Q. How long will Tokyo's cherry blossoms last? A. Japan's Prime Minister is giving Washington 250 cherry trees as a gift at the state dinner, to replace hundreds that are in the seawall tidal basin construction zone this Summer. The KZbin walk is always really pretty. I just learned about it on ABC News and I wanted to share the Story. I think the wonderful cherry trees gift adds a manga Tribulation to our pop culture.

If someone happens to find this secret spot, come in afternoon when the tide rises. If not, you're see more mud and a bit of trashes underneath.
@onlyinjapanGO
@onlyinjapanGO 2 ай бұрын
Trash? Mud? I’ve not seen that and the water doesn’t often go over the bank. Only during typhoons 🌀 since the 1990s the Sumida River has been pretty clean although I wouldn’t drink it 😆

There is a sense of urgency when appreciating cherry blossoms. I have always planned on seeing the cherry blossoms in Washington DC but because of the unpredictability, I have yet to see them. So I appreciate you taking us along and being as appreciative of them as I would be. By the way, I love the bright green peeking out through the pink/white. 🌸🌸🌸 Question: So why are they called Cherry blossoms if they are not cherry trees?
@ricodemarco
@ricodemarco 2 ай бұрын
I heard that long ago a traveler from Europe saw the sakura blossoms and said it looked like cherry trees blossoming. I guess that stuck and now people call it cherry blossoms when its actually sakura blossoms.

Maybe visit Washington d.c. and see the sakura blossom along the Potomac River. Japan donated trees to USA before the war.

I’m planning already for next year sakura blossom trip. Maybe april would be best to come in case they bloom late again.
@mattegeniet
@mattegeniet 2 ай бұрын
I think that’s the safest bet. If they’re early you can still probably go up to tohoku or the alps in that case and still see them there. April certainly gives more options, especially early ish April. At least if you’re a bit flexible with where you can go :) area around Sendai is even very easy to go for day trips.
@onlyinjapanGO

Can’t go wrong, you’re rather at the start or the finish :) March30 to April 3 seems like you’d get them at full bloom or at the end on normal years in Tokyo.

10 days is norm. Sometimes 6-7 days. 14 days is the max I’ve seen in my 25 years. One spring there was no wind or rain at the end but when it came, they ALL left in an instant. You can be sure in spring, wind and rain will come!
