The video makes it seem worse than it is lol its literately just an episode repeating 8 times over (roughly speaking). Even with that spoiled, the show is still worth watching (Easy 9/10 show for me! Though I might be slightly biased...I recently rewatched certain key scenes after a couple of years of not exposing myself to the show and they hold up well...the rest of the show when you already know what happens? Not as much...but I've come to realize over time that that's literately every anime! lol :P) You may have heard this before, but this show was originally not released in chronological order for the first season before getting "fixed" in the second. This leads to a lot of really anal discussion online about what the best order is but I'll just tell you release order is best, as it follows creative intent more (though some smart ass will argue chronological order is more faithful to the light novel but the anime is way better than the source material anyways so that logic is dumb). Assuming your not pirating the show from a torrent site that re orders the episodes properly (even then I only found one torrent that does this) you'll have to watch the episodes in a different order than listed to get the proper experience. For convenience...this is the order... 25, 1, 2, 7, 3, 10, 9, 11, 28, 4, 27, 26, 5, 6, 8, 12 - 24, Movie You can't go wrong with this order, if anything it makes the first watch through that much more fun since for the first half your trying to piece together the plot in real time and the end of the first season goes out of its way to make it feel at least somewhat satisfying (your mileage will vary depending on what you come to expect of the ending of season 1 by the time you get to it) Best part of all of this? The movie is arguably better than the rest of the series, but that's fairly subjective I suppose (though I wouldn't be surprised if that was in a very general sense the consensus) so you have something "good" to look forward to at the end of the journey (it manages this by subverting a constant throughout the whole show (and that's not the only reason its good obviously) which I dare will not spoil! Even if its admittedly somewhat easy to figure out if you put enough thought into it) Anyways since I'm here, I might as well ask...what's your favorite animes/games? (I can tell you some of mine if you want! Maybe we can recommend each other cool stuff! lol :P) (Random last thing but I have pretty good memories watching the endless eight with some old friends of mine...you'd be surprised how crazy the in jokes will start to get in between you all when you inevitably get bored watching the same episode 8 times and start saying the most random crap to pass the time! lol :P)

@@chancefreely I mean most of what I wrote out relates to what order to watch the show in and what to expect going into it (alongside my own experience with it a little bit). The whole "Endless Eight" thing gets overblown simply because of how ridiculous it sounds out of context, and given that you thought it was a SINGLE EPISODE I'd say your in for quite a time when you realize that its not! (With context its an interesting experiment in an otherwise interesting show that has more depth than what appears on the surface). TL;DR The show just so happens to be more complicated than the subject matter of the video (which analyses a small part of the show in a really asinine and confusing way). But there's really nothing to un-complicate cause at its core its not that complicated overall! Just watch the show in the order I listed before (if you want to...obviously lol) and you'll be fine! :P

I don't see why they didn't vary activities, showing us different variations. Like how about them watching the time they work at a call center or whatever? I mean there are very tiny variations, but most of the activities were the same and even shot at different angles, so they went out of the way to animate them.

I remember binging all endless eight all at once with my older brother when he was rewatching the show, but I was seeing it for the first time. It was so nice to be able to say I did it, but I can't imagine doing it for over 200 days straight.

It's been a while since I read it, but IIRC it basically just covered the final loop, so it makes sense that it was the shortest, as that is effectively a 1 episode arc. Even if I'm remembering wrong, I'm certain it wasn't more than 2 loops, which would be 2 episodes which is still quite a short arc.

talking to people who got me into Haruhi about Endless 8 made me realize there are few things i hate more than trend chasers and posers. they'd talk non-stop about wow, cool, deep, super interesting anime with the first season, but has absolutely nothing to good to say about Endless 8, even though you can clearly see the amount of work that has gone into each episode and the care they took with the all the differences. the story just wouldn't work if they didn't do it that way, yet all of my friends hated it and brushed if off and i don't even like everything about Haruhi.

Whether it was intentional or not I found Endless Eight to be pretty immersive, and even trippy at times. With each passing episode I felt like I was starting to get more and more deja vu myself, and considering the plot behind this arc you can see how I'd find it immersive. Not to mention the monstrous build up that makes the conclusion that much more worth it. Though I'm not sure if I could make it through 8 weeks of this had I watched it while airing. Great video !

Ah like me watched all 8 the 3 rewatches I have made. When you take them as chances to evaluate what is different and how different directors try to spin the dialog it's actually interesting if you're into stuff like this. But I love Plays and you commonly see the popular ones many times.

If you want the real reason, it's because Haruhi wanted the Summer to be longer so she could stay with Kyon longer. Also when they do the lotteries I think before the beginning of the loop, Haruhi always get the shorter end of the stick and she didn't get to spend the rest of Summer with Kyon. She is a Tsundere though so she never tells them that she is upset with the result and left. Since she never knew she is a God, she accidentally made the day loop

​@@MystGang I mean no disrespect but I couldn't care. With most shows even if I don't enjoy I can say I understand, or could see why others enjoyed it. Not with this anime, never cared for the characters, didn't care for the story, I just genuinely had no interest in it and the repeating of multiple episodes with 30 seconds worth of new content was the nail in the coffin. This was easily 5-6 years ago and I've yet to care enough to watch the remaining episodes just to say I finished it. Again no disrespect meant, no flaming it just didn't connect with me, and I found the experience frustrating to sit threw. As someone who is nearly 34 I grew up with DBZ, .hack, Tenchi Muyo, I watched the big 3 shonen as they aired in real time. I am use to this style of anime, I don't need flashy, I don't need crazy stuff to keep my attention I enjoyed Ergo Proxy, but this ... this didn't connect to me on any level, and gain not trying to flame but I would go far as to say I see no redeeming quality about it, or why folks love it so much. I just never found the characters, the story, or the setting interesting, and it was a slow process to sit threw until I couldn't force myself to do so further.

Also there's two seasons, so you said "2 episodes before the end" so did you quit before the end of S1?

@@therealnav214 I was in the endless 8 only 2 episodes short of where I thought it ended. I was under the impression there was 26-ish episodes completely from memory but yeah I was in the endless 8 and looked at the remaining episodes which is where I got 2. If that was the 1st season than I wasn't nearly as far along as I thought. I just remember watching them at the pool several times and maybe 10 seconds worth of new episode per episode.

@GainingDespair I see. If you ever feel like it, I think you just finish those last two episodes and then go straight to the movie. The last episode especially has a lot of changes, but even then, you could just not finish the endless 8 if you want. People give up and still go ahead to watch the movie as the movie is the best part of the series and one of the very best in all anime. You'll see the point of the endless 8 after the movie because it does play a huge role.
