Just a thought: sound describes relationships between things... these sounds (like all sounds) aren't just "the sound of the centipede", but the sounds of the centipede walking on a glass plate in an anechoic chamber, through a contact mic at distance X from the centipede, through the mixer, through my PC speakers in my bedroom, etc... one long resonance... "the sound" doesn't just live inside "the centipede"

you can actually hear snails eating without a powerful mic and room! you just need a reasonably quiet room and something crunchy for them to eat. i have videos of my snail eating apple slices where you can hear his radula scraping against his food. you can also feel them scrape food if they let you hold it up to their mouths

Great experiment, great sounds! I loved the maggot sound. Interestingly enough, I was sitting on my couch one day and a snail was crossing the vinyl window on the other side. It had some friction at one point, so you could hear the squeak made by opposing forces. I might try the experiment again with different surface materials, smooth glass isn't likely to provide much resistance, but other materials would likely produce a sound.

I heard a slug "walking" across a polystyrene fast food container last night when I was out with my dog. It was actually quite loud because the polystyrene acted like a loudspeaker due to its rigidity and very low density. Most of the vibration would be absorbed by the glass. I heard it from about 15 feet away.

Yes it is, there's less spectrum wavelengths in that room than in space. I don't see a gamma ray in that room. And the x-ray level seems pretty safe, so yes this room has less radial spectrums flowing in it.
