I too also noticed how loud it gets when playing disc version games,it’ll get really loud then go back down and repeat on and off for long sessions,just got my slim last weekend

It's the type of fan used. It's a delta fan with 19 blades. I'm hoping they release a 23 blade variant so I can replace mine. I only notice the fan kicking up when playing God of War R since the game music doesn't really play much. It'll kick up then go quiet then back up again. It idbstated on the PlayStation website about the system making noise about the fan temporarily spinning faster to help cool the console. I don't really notice it much anymore but other than that I have no issues with the system. It works

It’s definitely louder than the original PS5. My PS5 doesn’t exceed 36 dbs except when the disc is reading. During gameplay it’s around 33-36 dbs.

Thats not true, sorry. There are four Fan Models. The NMB ist the loudest one. I got a Foxconn Fan and it is super quiet.

You're right, the same thing happened to me, when you start any game the fan makes an unpleasant sound that distracts you from the game, you can even hear it even if you have headphones on, very unpleasant, the same day the console arrived I started the procedures to return it

Sinon petit conseil moi elle faisait du bruit comme la tienne a cause Du plastique mal foutu... Il suffit de prendre un petit carré de coton vraiment fin et de le scotché à l'intérieur du cash pour que le lecteur vibre moins contre le plastique et vous verrez c'est plus agréable vraiment c'est une petite technique toute bête mais efficace !

I"ve had my gen 1 PS5 reversion 2 for 2 years and it was only the disc drive that hummed, the SSD was always quiet then the HDMI fails so I buy the slim edition and the SSD is louder straight out of the box

If you’re happy with the current ps5 I would keep it. There is a sale for the slim though spiderman bundle in the US for $450. Also the slim has more storage (1tb vs 825 gb) unless you already upgraded the storage on your current ps5. The slim takes up less space too. Really up to you

I have no idea. I use my ps5 slim regularly. No issues and the tv volume covers up the sound I suppose. As long as the ps5 holds up I’m ok with that. I guess the ps4 pro was also a loud console

My PS5 Slim digital can't be heard at all when it's working, but when I play Fortnite I notice that the fan increases for a few seconds and then decreases again and repeats like that during the game, I don't know if this is normal for slim models ?

Interesting. Havent played fortnite in awhile. I’m actually going to be doing temperature tests as well. My guess is if the fan increases it’s probably doing its job and trying to cool the console. How long into gameplay when you notice the fan?

I've never listened to an OG PS5 in person, but comparing my PS5 Slim that I got in December to what I've seen in videos, it's without a doubt louder. The disc drive is the loudest part. Once it's done reading the disc (30~ seconds) then it'll be fairly quite for an hour or so (until it reverifies the disc). I did have an issue for a bit where it sounded like a chainsaw everytime I inserted a disc, I think it was related to one of the plates not being fully pressed in so it was making that obnoxious noise. I got the Spider-Man 2 bundle, so I got it for the same MSRP as the OG PS5 albeit with a game & 175GB more storage. Probably would've got the OG PS5 looking back though. Performance in games seems to not be affected by the louder overall package (definitely related to being a smaller machine since a larger machine has more leeway).

Ah allright! According to the short-video the regular PS5 does 35-38db in regular gameplay. That significantly quiter than the 41-44db the Slim makes. Great info! My ps5 slim started doing a similar "whistle" sound like yours. Is it normal? I was wondering: Could the heat be the cause of this sound? I never noticed this sound during winter, I first noticed this sound when the temperature in my country increased. Also this sound in my ps5 is not continuous unlike yours. I have another question about ps5 fat cd room does it effect by internet because I have a bad internet connection and it gives me a strange message when I download a game from desk driver it say queued cope and with some strange quiet noise but once I turn off the internet it works perfectly and when the internet is stable it works perfect with the normal cd noise is it normal?

Do you know which game? Some disc games might need some patch downloads. Day one patches. Some games though should be playable. Depends on the game. Ever heard of does it play website? They test games offline.

Yeah unfortunately that’s how it is. Technically based on the noise level it’s still considered somewhat quiet. 38-40 dBA is considered silent
