Still, they do have it easier than those in rural Ukraine, middle east and Africa and I am sure other places. The kids and mom do not look malnourished. But yes, I would be concerned for my children. I have never had cupboards that bare nor such an empty refrigerator. I hope England does better stocking pantries like this.

@@annsaunders5768 The Hell with Ukraine and the other Countries! People in the UK should be the priority of the UK GOVERNMENT. I'm sick of our taxes going to fund other people's Wars. Equally Foreign Aid, sending millions to India, China and other RICH Countries is inexcusable. These children are pale and drawn. They DO look malnourished, and we can't see what's happening inside their bodies ! What do you want them to look like? Emaciated skeletons?? Also, if you have no food, you don't have anything to stock in your pantry, now do you ? 🤡🤡

I grew up very poor, at least in the early years due to our situation. Every Friday for supper, my brother & I ate the last of our stale bread with slightly sour smelling milk over it. This was our supper. After my dad left the 4 of us (me, my brother, mom, & elderly grandmother), taking what little money we had, we were forced to begin living out of my grandmother’s car - parked at a gas station that allowed us to use their bathroom. During this time (about 4-5 months) my mother worked a full time job & took as much overtime as she was given. Fortunately, we lived in a warm climate, but it was most difficult for my mother having to sleep in a car & go to work everyday at an office job. This was around 1957, & although there was help available back then, my mom was a proud woman & didn’t want welfare or food stamps. But my brother & I never went hungry, & my mom & my grandmother didn’t eat meals with my brother & me. Later on, I learned from a distant relative why they did this. They WAITED to make sure my bother & me had had enough to eat, then ate what was left. The story would be tragic if the adults caring for us had given up… & fortunately they didn’t. Mom saved a portion of her earning until we were able to rent a place. After a few more years, my mom was able to buy a small house for us.

Not having passed all the GCSEs is more than a self worth and self esteem hit, it’s an accomplishment that she didn’t achieve for herself, that she’s so mad, sad and infuriated with. It meant she’d have an excellent passport in education, and with that power to go and get what she’s destined for. With all she has been dealing with and gone through, is it any wonder why she didn’t achieve what she wanted? Children don’t do well when hungry, constantly uprooted, with no stability in their abode.

@@diahill1945 No. Benefits don't pay more than a wage. However., whilst on benefits Childcare is free, so people can work up to 16 hours a week, with benefit top ups. Over 16 hours, the free Childcare and other assistance ( such as rent support etc, stops. Then they're in a bad situation, as they can't afford childcare, free School meals, etc. A vicious circle which means they're better on benefits. No excuse not to have some self respect, and work those 16 hours though.

I wonder if, this could be seen in another direction. Sugar makes people hungry. Maybe focus on protein; Beans, meat and legumes. Focus on seeds for veggies, or veggies that don't spoil. That would be cabbage, carrots, potatoes, onions and squash. Maybe get rid of the fridge. Also get rid of extra stuff. This makes it easier to take care of the house.

You get what you're given at all Australian food banks. It's what the supermarkets don't want. Usually high sugar high processed food out of date. Very very few fresh whole foods like vegetables and fruit. And what that is, many times is on the verge of rotting. I should know, I helped a critically sick friend by collecting food from a bank for them. The food is low in nutrition and as I said, a lot is rotting. And ZERO meat, pulses, lentils and dairy etc. Seeing this documentary and what people are given looks like a banquet to Australian poor. Please be careful critiquing people as it's quite more complicated story than many know. My friend died, and the dire lack of nutrition doubtless contributed to his body's inability to fight the cancer. It's not possible to eat properly here when you are in poverty. It is a terrible thing to witness, someone close to you being ravaged by illness and practically starving to death, and in a so called 'civilised' country to boot

Don't worry kiddies, when you become of working age, the Crown will be more than happy to take most of your wages when all is said and done. So sadly, you will feel right at home being poor for the rest of your life while the Royals are living the high life off of your backs, and OFF OF YOUR MONEY! You all in the UK need to ditch that "monarchy", and let these people EAT! PS) NO CHILD 0:50 should have to "be at school worrying" where their next meal is coming from! Insanity!

It’s the billions of “migrants” that illegally flood into the UK. And the UK goverment, just like the US goverment, spends so much money on helping these illegals, instead of deporting them! Those illegals get , prioritized housing , money, and all sorts of goverment benifits. In the US they get free housing, a high amount of food stamps Cash money, medical care , money for furniture , free translators and free lessons in English ( which many dont bother to learn) Our governments prioritize helping the people who have entered our countries illegally. And provide very little help for the native, law abiding citizens . It breaks my heart that all, these beautiful Brits are suffering so much. And the same for all the Americans that are suffering. These aren’t people who are gaming the system to get as much free stuff as they can , having large numbers of children, and they are capable of working but don’t want to work. These people in the video and millions like them , are the “working poor” who are one paycheck away from homelessness, one catastrophic event in their lives and they are broke. These people want to work and provide for their families . This extreme poverty is not just affecting the adults , but the children and it will, have an effect on the children’s lives , maybe for their entire lives, definateky for a long time. Physical health, mental health are involved. Children are our future and we are doing them a huge disservice. We are allowing a generation to grow up in extreme poverty.

The reason the rich people are doing so well in England is because apparently it doesn’t sound like the government is raising the Taxes, crazy sky high So if you were able to afford six dollars for a pound of meat, you know you won’t be paying $6.97 for 3 pounds of meat So otherwise, the people that great paycheques would be struggling with money as well as the people who are already struggling

maybe if you don’t go through it yourself you know and you’re not exactly poor, but you’re not rich either Like my family isn’t rich, but they’re not poor either we still can afford food, but we still have to watch our money. We still have to look for the things on sale. And even the people that More than minimum wage in Ontario Canada, the cost of food and everything even the rich people are often left with not much money After they pay their bills and they pay for their gas, they are not Left With in their bank account, you know so yeah

In England it sounds like it’s completely different because it sounds like people that make more than minimum wage there Are doing OK they don’t have Worry about not having to pay for things in England, and some countries are like that sometimes the Minimum wage people and The people that make More than minimum wage Or able to provide food with her able to give their children the life of luxury you know they’re able to give their children the best life they’re able to hire the best teachers in their school to teach their kids You know they can if their kids need help with something they can hire a person to help their kids with their schoolwork you know

and I’m not saying that you know it sees peoples fault for doing that and I’m not blaming these parents for not working you know I’m not blaming their situation. I’m just saying like it makes sense. If you don’t have the money then you can’t expect people to be able to afford clothing and food. You can’t walk into a restaurant to get a meal for free you know I mean, majority of restaurant won’t allow you to do that

Acorns and dandelions? Really? Do you not know most people live in towns amd cities and nowhere near countryside? And the acorn trees died out decades ago due to blight? Even so, you're believing that 4 million people in a tiny island country are going to be sustained by wild food when there are practically no forests left and certainly no way for even a few people to travel there?

not like people that are making minimum wage and making more than minimum wage, you know those people You know we’re often doing good and then they get one or two marks wrong and then it’s like I don’t really give a shit I’m still better than other people in my class Not as good as you did before is still better than what other people got in the class It means nothing to them because they don’t have to worry about struggling with money. They don’t have to worry about working harder to provide for themselves and For their family They don’t have to worry about the stigma and the fact that you know it’s hard to make friends. They don’t have to worry about being judged and being ignored or bullied by other people you know just because they don’t have any money. They don’t have to worry about that. Why would they worry about a Low mark on one test?

I'm sorry but killing yourself or inflicting self harm is a yellow belly way of checking out. Being poor like this would suck .. but you have to be strong. Jesus loves you. If you serve him and live for him.... you'll not kill yourself. That's a sure ticket for hell. Prayer changes things. Living for God changes lives. He made you and sent Jesus to die for you! Don't give up. Have a heart to heart talk with Jesus. Have family prayers. Cry out to God with all your heart, be sincere. He will hear you and help you!!!! 🙏

What I wonder is why these women don't work during school hours. My country don't have a generous welfare system so the hustle is always on. We buy our own houses. Goverment has houses they build but you pay a mortage. I don't know anyone who don't work. We are all a two income households. Don't understand this.

so yeah, in Canada, it’s like everybody is struggling with money. Everybody is having a hard time buying food and you know being able to afford the things like clothing and things they want to do. In England, the people that do make good paycheques are really, really really good for themselves and while the people that live in poverty are the ones that are struggling That is the wsy it should be you know People that don’t work and don’t get much money should be going to the food bank to get their food It just makes no sense that a person who makes slower than minimum wage should be able to just walk into a store, a grocery store and have money to pay for a whole bunch of food And meanwhile, all the people that make wonderful paychecks, can’t even afford vegetables and

but That is the way it should be. Nobody should be making a great paycheque and still be struggling. That doesn’t make any sense to me. But in Canada and the United States it’s like that just doesn’t make any sense you know but that’s the way Canada is and that’s the way he United States is England Children growing up in poverty or blaming the government for not you know giving the money or as much money as they should be getting a month but yet here the people that do Make very very good pay like 20 or $30 an hour can’t afford food because our Prime Minister just Trudeau is raising taxes on some of the food Like the meat and different things so let’s say something is like five dollars or $5.97 You’re probably paying like $6.30 you know for that item and that say if a pound of ground beef for a pound of chicken thighs are six dollars for like two or three pounds Of beef or chicken That would be like $14 a pound like I don’t understand how even the people that make 20 or $30 an hour will be able to pay for that you know it’s ridiculous Happens to people who own the companies as well. They put the prices up and Justin Trudeau just keeps adding onto it like it’s crazy.
