I think this video misses the point somewhat. An FA cup tie away from home against an inferior opponent who are good at set pieces and have a loud crowd is exactly the sort of fixture we are used to Manchester United fumbling. What matters here isn't so much the result but the attitude, the types of moves the team attempted. Yes many of these moves were basic but this season Utd have been fumbling the basics time and time again due to their nerves, lack of belief, players playing outside their preferred position, etc. No-one is saying this performance means Utd are the finished product, but its very refreshing to see them playing with this belief, and playing Amorim's brand of football.

Alot of people are saying how good Mainoo is playing at the 10 role. Will not really looked too much into this game as the opposition is really poor defensively in the 2nd half. we should have win the game with bigger margin.

I actually did like Mainoo there and his movement. He was often making those runs behind defensive line for a silky through ball… for some reason though we were not attempting those passes (with Eriksen, Bruno and Lisandro on the pitch…); I haven’t seen Hojlund offering those runs.

I really think we're getting ahead of ourselves. Mainoo is great. But we should consider the opposition. And whether he can do that 90mins against a better side. I feel like we're jumping the gun here. Difference between Mainoo and Fernandes in 10 is Fernandes has gotten results over 90mins, against all kinds of teams, over years!

@AtlantisFootball And not to disagree. But I feel like we're using Bruno as a stop-gap for a position he's not entirely great at. Yes, he's efficient. And that's why the manager plays him there. He's better than anything else we have. But I feel like later, he should be allowed to be the attacking, creative player he is. He's not a defensive midfielder!

The opposition didn't have the fitness levels of the premier league which can happen in european games. Main thing is people see the opportunities and take them when they can. Hopefully that helps with confidence. On the Hojlund issue I think it's quite ridiculous that the club has left him as the only goal scoring striker for so long. Rooney at the same age was never expected to shoulder the burden of an attack trying to compete on 4 fronts. He's having a dip in form which can happen with strikers but rather than live off cameos for a few games he has to play because there's no one else. Bad transfer policy can stymie the development of players as well as the team.

Not really. In the PL we need pace in the forward line. Can’t sell Garnacho and Rashford without replacing them stylistically in the squad. People are going somewhat overboard, not factoring in the opposition

Pace is important and let be truthful I think the news about united wanting to sell garnacho is more fueled by the fact that rashford doesn't look sellable this January. In my humble opinion.

@@AtlantisFootball Yes you need pace in the forward line but I think atm Mainoo current skill set is suited for this role and he wasn’t in the 10 per se he was more of an advanced 8. Amorim L10 at sporting wasn’t fast either but he was used for linkup play. I think Mainoo in the isn’t long term at all but I think for the moment it could benefit him for the future. Because this experiment in the 10 can cause him to become a creator and it would really benefit him when he drops back to the pivot. And Mainoo in the 10 might give us a chance to hold to possession more due to his press resistance. So you could play him in the 10 but the other 10 and the ST need pace. Like for example if Mainoo plays in the 10 Zirkzee can’t be the ST
