The Martinelli comparison is very apt. Both players lack the technical dribbling ability to really push on and in martinellis case is probably going to be the reason he gets replaced in order for arsenal to progress further but in Garnachos I just hope he can improve on that more as he's still very young

Garnachos biggest attribute isnt one you have data on but its his mentality. He is an average to good player BUT his mentality is what sets him apart. He takes feedback constantly and applies it to his game. I remember in the academy one of the coaches said they worked with Garnacho to just cross with his left foot for a number of games and his left foot is now a strength. The thing with players with immense mentality like Garnacho is that you cant tell how far they will go. Ronaldo is the obvious example but he had tons of natural talent. The one example who I can point to as having average talent but strong mentality is vinicious junior at madrid. Fans who saw his first seasons will testify that he was horrible...but thats the thing about players with mentality...they will humble themselves and work on their weaknesses...and because of that, they are unpredictable...one season they are bad, a few months of work and they become elite. Garnachos mentality is the real thing that makes him unique...and its the thing that will set him apart. I honestly think its that mentality that is going to shock people. Even in amorims system, Garnacho isnt an obvious fit for the number 10...but that mentality means that he will work his socks off to fit in...such stuff shocks coaches

Meanwhile...this isn't a post in support of keeping Garnacho. Keep him or sell him, it doesn't matter. Manutd should do whatever makes financial sense. Selling a promising player is not the end of the world. Liverpool sold sterling when he was their hope and then used the money to buy better cheaper talent like coutinho, so for me, if we sell, it makes sense. The only thing i mentioned is that Garnacho has mentality, which means no matter where he goes, it's very hard to tell how good he will finally be.

But I do think that he doesn’t fit amorims system as he requires more tight spaces dribbler and better thru ball vision. I agree-he will be much more valuable as a traditional right winger. However, I've seen him receive the ball on the right wing and just outside the opposing penalty area. Any quick player's instinct would be to burst past the fullback and deliver an easy low cross into the box but for whatever reason, he chose to pass it back to a CM.

Chelsea is linked with him because from business side it makes sense. Mudryk is banned and so needs replacement, If Chelsea takes Garnacho, MU has to buy Chelsea players that currently are on sell or loan list. And I'm sure Chelsea board won't be stupid with how much they're willing to buy Garnacho as well, so they can flip it in a few seasons. Personally I'm not a fan of the deal but also the board and the scout knows more who's actually available and who they actually they can get on the market. Though I think it's better to just trust George as Misha replacement until hopefully the ban is resolved.

No offense, but with Estevao joining in six months it makes no sense to buy Garnacho for 60 odd million now. The only way it becomes sensible is if Mudryk is banned and Garnacho can fill in and provide pace on the left. And the left side is problematic in no small part because Cucurella is the opposite of an attacking fullback. He is dreadful, relatively speaking, whenever he's forced to stay wide and push high, and he absolute excels at tucking into defensive midfield and harrying the opposition, only very occasionally drifting forward and catching the opposition defensive scheme unprepared. Obviously there's always a Chilwell but he's effectively blacklisted. The right side is the polar opposite. Gusto is at his best booming down the wide right flank and has struggled to look like a top tier player whenever he's asked to tuck inside. He just doesn't navigate the space all that well, he's caught out of position, and his execution is a little bit slower and more inaccurate than one would want. James, when he can play, is brilliant around the corner of the opposition box. You just don't know if he'll come inside or go outside. Lastly, the reality is that neither Neto, Madueke, Sancho, Mudryk, or even Garnacho quite have the level to be effective and making quality crosses when they're completely isolated. And Chelsea does not have the central players to really take advantage of crosses, making the approach a bad idea anyway.

His positioning to get in behind and be on the shoulder of the last man is fantastic. His decision making and finishing sometimes lets him down. Although looking back at some of the goals he scored when he first broke into the first team I do think he's a very good finisher, the past 12 months it hasn't been. A confident Garnacho in a system that suits him and I could easily see him getting 15+ goals a season (all comps)

We do consider those things literally in every section we say what can be improved, what is underrated statistically but has promise etc. Secondly, we have said he is potentially a UCL standard player which is quite a big shout considering United are 12th in the table. Delusions of graduer come to mind with United fans expecting every youngster to come through their door to be given World Class status, saw the same crap with Rashford and we have seen how well that aged.

For me the issue is how he fits in this new system. I don't think he has the skillset to excel as a wide 10. I think you're gonna have more chance improving his pressing, tackling and positioning than his creativity, passing and finishing (which are the hardest to do) and as such if he stays at United it should be as a WB. His dribbling isn't technically advanced enough. He's a ball carrier more than anything. I haven't looked but I bet he's very high in progressive carries and very low in successful take-ons, which again leans towards WB, not 10. IDK why Chelsea want him, they have enough in his position now and more on the way in guys like Estevao and Kendry (edit: seems you agree, I didn't get to the end at this point). I'm not against selling him but it would have to be much more than Chelsea are offering. I think in a EtH system that actually works he could excel and his price should reflect that and if we can't get that then keep him. I'd want 80m+. That said as a football fan I'd rather he left for his own good than bounced around in the Amorim system and risk never really developing because I'd like to see what he's capable of as a LW in a very attacking side. I think Madrid would suit him well but that ship sailed and if he gets to the level where Madrid are willing to pay a fair price we shouldn't be selling him. I'm aware this comment is very contradictory where I'm saying he should leave but we shouldn't sell him but that's because he's in such a weird place himself.

He's still only 20, and United have a knack for over-playing and burning their young talent into the ground, as they're always in a desperate state, which skews perceptions of where he's at developmentally I think.

Then clearly you do not understand the demands of an Amorim system in the long term if he is to become a title winning standard player in that set up. To be an inside forward/10, you need to be able to playmake and help control the game in central channels as well as drift wide - he can do the second, not the first... so that compromises the system. As a wing back, if he was encouraged to stay forward and not always have to sit back into back 5, he could focus on what he is best at, wide wing play and you could even rotate him with a Diallo in-game, or during pass sequences.

He is just 20, I think that "Max potential" is way bigger than "UCL Class". Especially because Man United doesn't score many goals in general. It is not only about the one or two specific players. If the team as a whole group make progress, then most players will have more goals and assists.

Yea the disrepect on Garnacho in this video is crazy. Kid still young but whenever his on the ball in the opposition half you feel like something is about to happen. He offers more threat than Chelseas current left wingers. And has got alot of aasits from the left aswell. I forget you're a Chelsea fan so you're biased at times.
