the downside is the drag makes the helicopter move slower and less agile

That is one of downsides, but u can set it to less drag on hover engine and it still should work fine

I did it on a same thing like put them on horizontal motorlock tower and put them on it like 2 layers of them and rescued by some helium, ballast block, propeller blade and the small propeller control to keep the position
