As an old school blue I enjoyed this - however you neglected to mention the reason united wear a blue away kit ! This is because at the start of the 30-31 season united did not have an away kit amd had no money to buy one, the rules stipulated that a club must have an away kit in order to compete in the league - City gave them their spare home kit !

Nah Utd fans know we’ve got history and still say it. The best man at my wedding is a Rag and he says it as “banter” but he knows we still hold the record for the biggest crowd outside of Wembley, he knows we won a trophy before they did, were called “Manchester” before them, actually play our home games in Manchester when they don’t and he knows about our glory era under Mercer and Allison.

Another “interesting” point is that Newton Heath and Old Trafford were never within the boundary of Manchester City, whereas Hyde Rd was and it’s not unreasonable to say that United never had a legitimate claim to adopt Manchester as a name in the first place.
@tomben6180

I’m a blue but Newton Heath was from 1890. That said, ignoring the years they had to borrow Maine Road, at the charity of City, they’ve only actually had their own stadium in Manchester for 20 years of their entire history… and not since 1910. How the scruffy fuckers claim Manchester is red is hilarious. They’d have to play their first!

@@illiteratethug3305 It wasn’t when Newton Heath were formed, but it was for a small period of time when United played there. Fun fact is Newton Heath/United have only played in Manchester for 25 years of their entire history, and 5 of those seasons they played at Maine Road, Manchester City’s ground, whilst Old Trafford was being reconstructed.

Not the first time City helped United either, City providing Maine Road after the war as Old Trafford was bombed, and in a round about way City talked Matt Busby from retiring to Canada after he finished playing for City, and talked him into management, fast forward a few years and he leads United to their first big successful period.

Also - did you know that UEFA offered City a place in the 58-59 European Cup, which the club declined as they had not earned it on the field of play ! Why did uefa make the offer ? Because they were amazed at the support City had given their rivals after the Munich air disaster ! And what did utd ever give City - a clock reminding us of how long we'd gone without winning anything - utd fans, classy as ever !

@@christopherwilson3442 It's true. Football was not much organised those days and UEFA wanted representation from great footballing Cities. Contrary to present and popular belief, City was very heavily supported club during those days, so when UTD suffered the tragedy, UEFA actually asked City to participate, but City denied as they didn't want to take well earned place of UTD just because they were going through a tragedy and wanted to show compassion as the time was for thinking about humanity than of just football rivalry. Kudos to City. Can't take that away from them.

Utd had been propped up by City for decades they could have gone back to the swamp after one season but stayed for three because they were making so much money. The gates went from 25,000 to 55,000 but dropped back once they returned to old trafford.

Categorically false, United still owe money to City to this day for its use. Let’s not forget Utd also used Maine Road in the 1950s, as Old Trafford didn’t have floodlights meaning you couldn’t play European fixtures there. United owe City tons in gratitude for keeping their club going. What did they do when the roles reversed and City were fucked? Mocked City instead of helping. And you lot wonder why City fans hate you so much.
@tonyblakemore2355

@@tomben6180 So, Utd not only crapped on City in the 1950's over floodlights but also in the early 1920's when the Hyde Road stadium burnt down and the rags said City couldn't play their matches at the swamp. Add to that the Busby Babes families who got kicked out of their homes and Martin Edwards selling rancid meat to Manchester schools and you see before you a truly shitty club operating inside of the glorious history they want the world to see on the outside.
