What's actually a difference between Vortex and Whirligig? For me both behave exactly the same.

They both pull the player, however the whirligig is supposed to pull things upward while the vortex keeps them close to the ground. The Vortex is also much faster and generally stronger.

one question i always had is that why was one of the gravitational anomalies called whirligig, something lost in translation, a typo maybe because whirling would've been a perfect name for something that rips you apart by spinning

That's a very good question and I don't know the answer. The original name is Карусель, Carousel.

@@anomalousdugout9557 so i looked it up here's what follows, the literal translation would be that of a merry go around or a round about, however a 'gig' is an old english term for a whipping top, add whirl to it and basically you get the characteristics of that anomaly, starts off by literally whipping living entities and spinning them
