1 bad album- disappointment, hope for the next to be good 2 bad albums- fear sets in, excitement for next album minimal. 3 bad albums- pretty much a guarantee I won't listen to the next album, unless it's an artist who has some serious classics. 4 bad albums- I would have to be told by someone that a future album is super dope to check it out.

Nas and Lupe both went through this in a parallel way, 2 great albums (Illmatic + IWW/ F&L + The Cool), 2 ehh albums (Nastradamus + I Am/ Lasers + F&L 2), then they both came back with some of the best work of their careers (Stillmatic +T&Y)

I think at the least F&L2 was good. I think the biggest issue with that is the reason they all agreed on. The placement of the three love songs close together messes up the albums flow. But apart from that the songs are really good and some damn great. I am interested to hear Drogas Light in full and see the response of others.
@Punjabispitta
@Punjabispitta 7 жыл бұрын
kooleyBear Yeah F&L 2 was pretty good imo too. On popular opinion most people weren't vibing with it, but I think for only half of an album, F&L 2 pt 1 was real nice, one of my favorite Lupe projects.

MK ULTRA SOLDIER II That was painful for me. B.o.B used to be my favorite artist, not necessarily as a rapper, but as an artist period. The Adventures of Bobby Ray was the first CD I ever bought along with How I Got Over. I figured he was a little corny but still talented and interesting. Even felt that the comparisons to Andre 3000 were justified. I really enjoyed the No Genre mixtape and I went back and listened to his older stuff. I even went to Grad Bash at Universal Studios just to see him perform. But after the Strange Clouds album and other projects I quit. The pop rap mix was no longer appealing. Hated the song with Taylor Swift. Then it's like he was doing trap music almost. I was very disappointed.

I feel like with Eminem, it's kinda a weird situation. His rapping has been top notch in terms of world play, rhyme scheme, punchlines (for some people). And so for that reason, there is always a potential he'll release a great album. He just needs better beats and hooks. He's friends with Dr Dre, and Dj Premier right??? It can't be that hard for him
@Paperbagman555
@Paperbagman555 7 жыл бұрын
It's not about just about beats and hooks; he's probably run out of stuff to rap about. I don't blame him either - everyone peaks at some point. Em had three great albums when he was young, hungry and emotional. He had lots to say because he hadn't released much material and had lots of tension in his life. Some musicians get better with age, most don't I feel. It's hard for a musician in their 40s to recapture that magic and tension that made us fall in love with them. His new punchlines suck by the way, whoever thinks they're good sets the bar very low.
@majinkaaz

Eminem had great albums, but Marshal mathers 2 wasn't that good to me imo only a couple of song were enjoyable. Relapse was ok, but I can see why people wouldn't like it. I like Recovery quite a lot tbh. I just want him to rap like his older albums, this aggressive screaming style gets tiring to listen to especially if it's like that damn near every song.

Damn, Eminem has the most intriguing catalogue. I mean, it's interesting to see the crests & troughs of his career. Starts off with Infinite, which failed, I liked it though, it was like 5.5/10 for me, then he comes with SSLP, MMLP, TES back to back 3 straight up classics, then he shits bad with Encore, but still has a few good cuts on there, then he moves forward to release a really dope horrorcore project, damn awesome, Relapse, I don't care what ya'll think about that project, I just love that one, then comes with a mainstream poppy, yet great rap album, Recovery, a 7/10 album, then I really loved the MMLP2 though, there weren't any fillers, but yeah, a bunch of bad bars, however I can skip that under the light of other dope stuff on the album, a solid 7.5/10 he scores there, then he shits again the hardest ever, with Revival (Framed, Believe, Arose & Castle were the only songs that I fucked with, on there), then Kamikaze, I liked that one too, but the last three songs on there were bad as fuck, a solid 7 there, then he comes with MTBMB, I just didn't like it as much, like DEHH group said, it was a super okay project at best, like a 5/10. A bunch of bad bars there too. His discography scores around 7/10 at best, considering his three 10/10 classics. I would say, Nas is on the same page too. 3 classics (Illmatic, Stillmatic, IWW), 2-3 bad projects, and a few with 6s & 7s, today his new shit dropped, King's Disease, and I listened to it, and there for me he scores around 6.5. So, his discography scores around 7.5 at best. On the other side, Jay Z is more consistent than anyone of the late 90s in the commercial rap scene, I'd say, his discography as a whole gives us a solid 8.5 mark, damn I love his catalogue. But that doesn't make him any better. Well, in the underground scene, MF Doom & Aesop top the chart for me. Doom hasn't ever released even a single bad project till date, that dude is phenomenal, pick any project from the hat, and you'll find a masterpiece, I mean, Mm..Food, Operation Doomsday, Madvillainy, or whichever. Aesop jumps in the same discussion too, he is just unique, Skelethon is fucking incredible to me, I love the Impossible Kid one too; there isn't even a single project from them, which I can is not upto the mark, their discographies are strong as fuck. I'd throw a 9 or even a 10 for them lol. They are just different.

I just think it’s hard for Eminem to keep up these days. He gets a lot of hate even though he is still incredibly good at rhyming. I think he struggles with trying to please a lot of people, and what to write about because he done rapped about everything possible. He gave us so much good work in his early albums. He still come back with great story telling, example “darkness” from MTBMB. I personally love that album because there was a lot of different glimpses of Eminem’s career that I hear in that album. I think if he came out with an album that had a concept it would be really great. Or if he went back to some hard 90s beats like on infinite or how he rapped on “don’t front” from MMLP2 bonus track, and brought back that raw style it would be a great album. But then again he would still get hate for “not progressing”. Idk I’m always here for an Eminem album though. A lot of rumors going around about a new project dropping this year and a possible “MMLP3”.

The Massacre is a classic, I mean it's not as good as GRODT because In my opinion it was too long , it's funny because they both have almost the same number of tracks but The Massacre FELT too long, if it was cut down by 3 tracks it would have been certified stamped classic but it's still a classic,those 3 tracks do not dimish the whole album because they aren't terrible. BISD was OK and yeah better than Curtis and Animal Ambition.

indeed quintbig I think Tyler is different in this case since every album he's put out is completely different from the last. The only 2 close ones were bastard and goblin but they had a whole different saline at the same time. Tyler is tight but personally I'm not looking out for him, his new style is good and all but his first 3 albums were where I became a big fan. Cherry bomb was meh for me but was a different type of sound, so it's not bad it's just not what you want to hear from Tyler.

Based off that, he currently should be excited for what Eminem comes out with next. If he was actually disappointed with his last LP, then what he said in this video would've made since.

The issue with Ye isn't about the quality of the albums he put out as much as it is the things that go into how he has created them. That is my guess for why for them. But for me he has four classics. I feel his first four are classics. MBDTF was okay but I was disasppointed with how it was and I have noticed that from then on that is when he has had short albums. And with Ye I don't think he is able to make the same amazing projects like his first 4 unless he has more time to expand on it. Being short gives him less to work with on a project.

For me 808s was great sound wise and lyric wise. And him being helped by Cudi and inspired by T-Pain's use of autone helped bring about the template for many like Drake. To me fantasy was cool but most of the songs were okay. Monster didn't have the amazing bars that I was told it did while Power and Runaway were amazing in each capacity.
@DclGamingPurple
@DclGamingPurple 7 жыл бұрын
kooleyBear i can respect that, but the majority of hip hop listeners would consider MBDTF an incredible album. In most definitions a classic is just a timeless album a lot of people love, so for that reason I would consider it a classic. Not trying to discredit 808s by any means though, just saying its substantially loved a lot less.
@kooleyBear
@kooleyBear 7 жыл бұрын
That's cool if you go by that. For me I am looking at it from the standard that Ye has set for us as well as impact. To me his creative genius was complete as a project on the first 4albums. The others are fine but they aren't on the same level.

@darrenpopovich3671
@darrenpopovich3671 7 жыл бұрын
I'd go with Outkast, they had a steady evolution on their albums, moreso Andre but Big Boi did too. They damn near invented new genres. Run The Jewels are one of the best doing it currently but I don't feel they've changed hip hop nearly as much as Outkast did in their heydey. They had such a variety of sounds they worked with, their songs got better and better, they experimented with the form and usually had success. They're just one of the best groups to ever do it and in my mind have done more to elevate the genre to higher levels. Run The Jewels are vets that are masters at execution. They're like a really excellent film like...The Town for example, masterful execution, no one is going to say you've reinvented the wheel but you've done a crime film that stands with the great crime films of the past. Outkast is more like No Country for Old Men for example, where it plays with the genre conventions of a crime film but comes out with something that feels wholly different in execution because of the personal manipulation and experimentation of the form so you felt like you saw something new instead of a really well-crafted crime film. Idk if my rambling makes any sense but that's my take on it.

Darren Satchawan I agree with you 100% but you're talking more about impact than lyricism. So let me rephrase the question...Which group duo would you go and listen to more based mainly off of their bars Outkast or Run The Jewels (albums & features)

Felipe Banks My bad bro, def missed the lyricism part lmaoooo. I'd still give the edge to Outkast because of their more expansive variety of moods and topics, ranging from political to meditations on mundane life, reminiscing about the past, social commentary and humor etc. I just feel they have a much more varied and rich body of work in all criteria including lyricism that reflects that diversity. So with more topics to cover, there is more opportunity to come up with witty bars relating to different things to be clever about. I mean I could get back to you after I've gone through their bars extensively I suppose lol I just remember when I would listen to an Outkast song, chuckling to myself over clever lines like "We come together like flour and water to make that slow dough, Colder than a polar bear's toenails" and then having my mind blown by shit like this: "Conceived under the influence of toxic wasted doctors, computer buggin' debuggin' device-a and vice versa And various viruses performing with laser light precision and verbal incision For a linguistic ballistic lobotomy Mind-fuckin' you, a psycho-sodomy Of the medula oblongata Accept your mind down your spine and out your behind Fuck you" back to shit like:" But the niggas around the Ave. and the hoes, they love me They wanna be me and my family too Because the money that I make be puttin cable off in every room" to other stuff like " :I'm fascinated by the way yo Nipples peak at me through yo blouse Freaky me, freaky you Can't help but be aroused 'Scuse me, Lord lustful thinking But that's the way we was brought up Sneaking to watch Playboy at night We all must be caught up in worldly ways" "And he kept asking me, "What kinda car you drive? I know you paid I know y'all got beaucoup of hoes from all them songs that y'all done made" And I replied that I had been going through the same things that he had True, I've got more fans than the average man, but not enough loot to last me To the end of the week, I live by the beat, like you live check-to-check If you don't move your feet then I don't eat, so we like neck-to-neck Yes, we done come a long way like them slim-ass cigarettes From Virginia, this ain't gon' stop, so we just gon' continue" So for me all of that variety plus the clever wordplay and not to mention delivery and flow, just makes me choose Outkast in the lyrics department as well. Sorry for the novel lol

I'm just like wow did people really listen to this ? my favorite album from him. that 25 to life, not afraid , no love , talkin to my self , almost famous, etc. there were really some great songs on the album . really slept on

Relapse may have had an odd sound and atmosphere, but that album boasts possibly the greatest series of rhyme schemes in the history of rap. That was Em at his technical prime. Even if you weren't digging the horrorcore, you can't deny the lyrical ability showcased there.

For me a big reason I stop listening to an artist is when I feel like I've heard everything that artist has got to say.

xSalamz his first album was alright, his second was arguably his best, his third was good and after that it's been a slow downward slope

My name Encore wasn't terrible imo. Relapse was corny, Recovery had potential and MMLP2 could've been executed alot better.
