Thank you for your sincere words regarding living with chronic pain. I was born with congenital spine and hip deformities resulting in four reconstructive surgeries. I live with pain that never goes away. I was told not to garden anymore because of the limitations with motion and the debilitating pain. But your channel and gardening in general gives me so much joy and inspiration that I cannot keep my hands out of the dirt. I often need a few days of rest to regain strength to go into my garden again. Many do not understand the emotional drain chronic pain brings. Many don't understand why a pill and a bed my be the highlight of our day at times. So thank you for acknowledging those of us who are chronic pain sufferers...just know we get your determination to work through it when you can and the need to drop everything and just rest when you can't.

I could not work during any of my pregnancies. My doctor said my pelvic was tillted the wrong way. I miscarriage twice. One between my full term pregnancies. So he would put me on bed rest almost. Carrying my children to full term was quite difficult. But I have 3 grown & healthy son's that were worth all the pain. Now I have a nerve condition that I developed after chemo, all so I just found out I have a condition in my back that the fluid in my spinal cord is inflamed & a disk degenerative disease of my lower back & may be in my kneck also! Wow!! Not to mention the rest of me. All in my sixties! Welcome to retirement. LOL! Painful, but not down or out! I still go out & putter in my flower beds. Fill my pots with what ever I think is pretty from the stores. So I am not ready to throw in the towel. Just a little slower & takes a little more effort to get up. But my garden is a work in progress, all the time. All year long. I do love to see things grow & look pretty. I love watching Laura in her garden & I have learned so much from them. It's the first thing I look for when I turn on my phone every morning. I fix my tea, then I sit down to watch & learn. It's worth getting up for every day. Thank you Garden Answer you are awesome!😀😃🤭🤭🤗🤗❤❤❤💙💙💙💙

Laura, It really touched me that you took a moment to speak to being thankful for your health. I suffer from chronic pain (RA , spine issues, and neuropathy). Prior to my illness I was very much like you, extremely active and energetic. I raised my kids, gardened a lot, worked as a preschool teacher, and enjoyed crafting. I was just thinking the other day how much I wish I would have cherished those days more. I wish I would have done so much more while I was physically capable. Chronic pain is so debilitating, but I’m finding new, adaptive ways to garden. Gardening is like therapy to me. My mind and soul are filled with ideas and motivation, but my body doesn’t cooperate. Watching your channel brings me such joy and provides me with a little escape from my pain. You truly are a blessing. Thank you for all that you do.

You are so very right about remembering how the pain felt to have compassion for others. I've always been very very compassionate and just love sending letters, cards to people. I just love thinking I am brightening their day. I now at 58 yrs. old struggle daily with chronic pain (spinal stenosis and Osteo-arthritis ). i have lived on pain patches and other pain meds for breakthrough pain. I still send cards because I try to still be thankful that my pain isn't worse than it is. I've been told by my pain specialist that I am pretty bad, but someone out there is in more pain, some where.....so I thank God it's not worse.

You should use some of the velcro plant tie strips on your mic cord so you can bundle it easier to tuck it. Just a thought.

Love the view of the gorgeous crabapple! I was wondering if you'd consider doing a garden tour of just the flowering trees sometime. I've learned so much about different shrubs, perennials and annuals watching your channel. I'd love to see all your beautiful flowering trees and try to learn to recognize them better in my area.

In regards to the planting in drifts topic, it would be cool to see you create a space or boundary and have you place a variety of plants in their cans to show multiple ideas of how that space could be planted up. You could show a few options for sun and shade and different plants that work together. I realize that we see lots of ideas by watching your planting videos but it was just a thought! Love your channel❤️

Just wanted to say thank you for giving me the appreciation of things I never noticed before. Multi trunk trees, arborvitae and the leaf structure of some plants. As I drive around now, I notice these things and think...Laura just talked about that!! Thank you, however now I want EVERYTHING!!!! Love your channel. It's become one of the best parts of my day!!

I totally agree! I started watching last year at the beginning of the pandemic. Now I do the same things-leaf structure, what goes with what in the garden, etc. I'm always saying garden related things to my husband and then-Laura does it this way! I have learned so much because I was not a gardner "before Garden Answer"!

Laura have you thought about adding used coffee grounds, which are acidic, to your soil? Coffee shops usually will give away their used coffee grounds just for this use. Just thought it would be a good if you could obtain some.

Bonide stump and vine is awesome for those bindweed vines! Just cut and paint it on the cut end. It rarely comes back. I use it on poison ivy and have taken back over a very wild part of our property.

Ok, I watch you daily and daily I say how does she do it! I have 3 “yard outfits”that I get so dirty and wet with sweat I have to strip In the garage before I can even go in house! Hair Is in ponytail and also wet. I really wish I’d just get over it , stop letting it blow my mind that you can work like you do and still look like you do!❤️

Be thankful you don't have rain and puddles everywhere all the time! Like you mentioned not irrigating because yall are having work done- we have to wait until summer usually to have anything done because our springs are so wet! Last year a big patch of our yard was ruined by a truck I told to go ahead & drop off compost 😩 & this year we have so many things we want to do & it's so difficult because of the rain! I looked it up, we get about 50 inches a year which sounds like it is about 1 inch a week but we get most of it on the spring & early summer, so We actually get like 3 or a week.

You inspired me to plant 200 bulbs last fall and the blooms this Spring are astounding! They brought me so much joy until the deer came by for a feast (we are in the Texas Hill Country- Zone 8b). I think you said to leave the plants once the blooms are gone until they turn brown because they are storing for next year. My two part question is this: 1. Even though the blooms are gone, the plants are green and just hanging out, I guess because the bloom was eaten early. Do I just wait? 2. I want to leave the bulbs in the ground for next year (it was a lot of work)- is there any sort of plant I can put over them in the garden while they are dormant? Do you dig up your tulips and replant or do you place something to grow over the top? Thanks for the help and the inspiration! Blessings to your sweet family!

She inspired me to plant lots of bulbs, too! I started 2 falls ago, so still new-ish to bulb care, but based on what I've seen from Laura and other KZbinrs, I think I can shed some light. 1. Yes, just wait. In a few weeks, the foliage will start to fade, and then shortly after that (when all green is gone), you can either cut back the foliage or dig the bulbs. 2. I believe Laura said she leaves all of hers in the ground (because she plants TONS, so it'd take ages to dig them and she'd rather just buy more in future years). I've seen her plant all sorts of annuals and perennials on top of her bulbs because she doesn't like bare spots in the garden. I know she occasionally hits a bulb with the shovel while planting overtop, and some of her tulips have faded over the years, but others in her garden have multiplied -- probably just because some varieties are better at naturalizing than others. I've heard some other sources recommend digging the bulbs instead of planting on top of them because the water and fertilizer you have to apply to keep other plants happy might rot the bulbs. So maybe digging is a safer option, but as you mentioned, it's also ton of work. For me, I don't have a ton of time to spare, so I'll probably dig a couple varieties that I want to move to other areas of the garden, but I've decided to leave the majority in the ground as an experiment to see how many come back in future years. I hope you have luck with yours, and no matter which option you choose, or how many blooms you have next year, at least it'll be a learning experience!

Omg! There were 3 rose of sharrons at my local nursery back in December but I was looking for a Japanese maple and didn’t walk away with them at the time. I went back 2 weeks ago and they were still there with new growth and greenery and I snatched them SO quickly! But yes, they looked DEAD in December!

I appreciate you sharing about your pain when pregnant and that you were thankful it wasn’t permanent pain like chronic pain. I have been living with chronic pain since 2012 and you channel and gardening have been therapeutic for me. Even if gardening gives me more pain physically it is good for my soul, my mental health.
