📚 I guessed 5000, but I did have a reference point. I just catalogued my library, and my double-stacked shelves hold about 250 books each. Going through all of the books is hard in the moment, but I think it is very rewarding when it is done. Maintaining it will be the hard part. You did an amazing job!!

This is why I stopped buying physical books because I have 5 bookshelves packed full and most of the time I read 99.9% on my Kindle. Even if I own the physical copy, I always figure out a way to read it on my Kindle. So, I just buy kindle book versions now and it's made my life so much better. But, to each his own. Great video.

Me too, I usually only buy physical if they’re very very dear to me, those 6 stars that I know I’ll be re reading time and time again. I live in a one bedroom (imagine a NY red brick studio with a small private garden), I just don’t have the space for more than 50 or 60 books.

The bad thing about that is that you aren't buying the kindle book your borrowing it if Amazon says they don't want to carry it anymore even though you "bought" it it disappears and that messes with my head 😂

I did this a few years ago with just our homeschool books and I had about 900. At the time I had pre-k-11th grade. I use the library thing app and shelved everything by level. It took me so long, but my daughter and I were both using our phones to scan the books. Once I was done with the school books I couldn't even start on my own books 🤣Also have not scanned all the new books that have come in since then...but it is something I plan to do at the end of the school year. Maybe I will take on scanning my own as well, and buy a cute little scan gun - that sounds more fun that using my phone to scan! 📚

I thought 1000, but I guess I wasn't even close. I really like libib. I also used this when I was still teaching for my school library. I showed my students how to follow me so they could always see what books were available to check out. It's so nice to have multiple libraries for books and other things like vinyl and videos. I know it was a lot of work for you, but it was a fun video to watch.

That total where i live it's 25 per paperback copy (hard cover it's 35) so at $25 each you've got over 106,000 dollars in books had you purchased them all! Then add in the cost of your shelves... Book collecting is expensive! I'm broke so Kindle and Kobo deals are how i read, and Libby. I used to do book reviews and get tons of book mail from that but it got so hard to store and it ended up taking away the pleasure of reading for me.

My books are in my ‘craft’ room, we call it the library. I knit and sew also, so my yarn and fabric are in that room as well. My criteria to keep books are: am I going to reread it, did it bring out strong emotions, or a memory is attached to it. If not then it goes out to the garage in the half price book box and I make 2-3 trips a year to sell back.

I had guessed 2750 or something like that. I have done this, but the majority of my library are antique and vintage books that don't have bar codes so I had to enter those all manually. The hard part is remembering to take them off the list when you get rid of them or upgrade. I hope you see the value in knowing what you have now even though it was a lot of work.

Only keep books that you love and would re-read. Some people keep every book they read and even ones they don't like and it's silly. Your shelves are so cluttered it does not look nice. Only keep your absolute favorites.

I’m going to guess 3500 because I’ve been a subscriber of this channel for years, but I have slowed way down on the book front whereas you’ve kept going, which is admire. You literally consume more books in one month than the average person reads in a year. Perhaps give yourself a goal to purge 10-15 books per month that you aren’t passionate about, which may free up some space for you - or store them in your garage in boxes that way it’s out of sight (that’s what I do).
