I've played a lot of UGx decks in this format, to me the more anti-flyer tools you have the better. @@YTNinja49GG Perhaps I should rephrase. He did give an explanation, but it was an off-hand sentence that was seemingly rendered moot when he cut cram session for subtraction. That's why I'm confused. Specifically, LSV gives an explanation for why to take cram session over serpentine curve, which I thought made sense. However, his only explanation for not taking subtraction was that he could get one later. I was confused by this logic since I have arcane subtraction as a much better card that is less likely to be available. I then thought maybe it was because he couldn't play subtraction on turn two, but then I don't understand why he cut cram for a subtraction at the end.

I haven't watched past the draft portion of the vid but I just wanted to go on record and say that quandrix command is way more than "just good" as lsv put it imho. I actually think it's the best command coming ahead of lorehold, silver, prismari, wither in that order. It didn't appear that way at first, I will admit, but playing more of the format and realizing how strong the big fractal's decks are the command has just skyrocketed in value. It's just so often a massive two for one that also puts you way ahead on board. Bouncing a token and pumping your trickster or whatever to eat their creature is just a massive amount of lifting for a 3 cmc instant to do. All of that applies even moreso to the aggressive matchups. The other thing is just how insane it scales when you copy it. Temur being amazing is another revelation and when you copy command (which is very easy when it lines up because of its cheap cost) it's often just game over.
@guyaudio6323 жыл бұрын
Lorehold is the biggest command. Quandrix second, then silverquil, prismari, witherbloom is almost unplayable.

@moocowp49703 жыл бұрын
Lol that 4th game tempted coming in clutch hahaha. Im not sure about sealed, but it does feel like draft has a substantially more luck than constructed. Which I guess is to be expected since there are extra forms of luck (in terms of what is offered in the draft) as well as a smaller deck size (contributing to a higher chance to be mana flooded/screwed).
@johannesvanderhorst97783 жыл бұрын
In fact a lower deck size reduces the odds of a mana flood/screw. Because if you draw too many lands, the probability that the next card is a land decreases faster in a small deck, and the same happens to the probability of you drawing another spell if you began with drawing too few lands. If a constructed deck has a lower probability of being mana screwed or mana flooded, it is due to a better finetuning and balancing of the deck rather than to its size.

I don't think the image one gets by these three matches is accurate in that regard.
@johannesvanderhorst97783 жыл бұрын
@@Kettwiesel25 Maybe it is. Suppose we wish the probability for a Bookworm hand to work out (rather than one losing with it still in hand while winning was possible if instead there was another spell in the hand) to be 80%. If it goes wrong in three out of six games, one could test the 80% success hypothesis by computing the probability that out of six games, it goes wrong at at least three of these games. According to my calculations, the probability is 1.645/15.625, what lies between 10% and 11%. Not significant yet (by the standard 5% significance level.) However, if we reduce the number of games involved or test for example a 90% success rate hypothesis, these three matches might give a significant result.
