Your comment at the end about this feeling like oldschool legacy really hit it on the nose. I love these matchups in duel commander, where all the little decisions matter and you are trying to squeak out tiny edges. Would love to see more of this

57:08 if you have partner commanders, once you cast one, the second gets frozen and can’t be cast for the rest of the game. So in this game, turn 1 Yoshimaru meant they could never cast Kraum.

@@THE_BASED_GOD yes I played duel commander on mtgo, and as I said, I was always playing around them casting the 2nd one. Never seen it but thought hey, maybe they had reasons not to cast them.

Thanks for these Duel Commander videos. Watching them inspired me to construct a deck. Less spikey than Malcolm though - going for some Temur High Tide jank with Flubs as the commander :D

I'm glad this format is becoming a thing. 99-card highlander decks present unique deckbuilding challenges that you don't find in constructed or limited, and I think this format lets more competitive minded players experience it.

Once you cast a partner, you can't cast the other for that game in duel commander. The other partner is basically just there for the colors.
