Just carry. To me it’s that simple. I’ve wasted a lot of time and money getting swayed by the caliber and capacity debate until I spent many hours at the range and realized that I don’t care what others think. I now carry 22lr and sometimes a micro 9mm in my pocket. The micro is the most concealable and comfortable in my pocket but if I found a truly reliable 22lr that size, I would carry it. I get mocked by family and friends and have to listen to countless comments about how 22lr is unreliable and not enough, but I have two that have never failed me and I can shoot them fast and accurately. Again though, just carry and train with it as often as you can, and don’t worry about other people’s opinions.

You are 100% right. All of these gun guys are pro-gun and pro-freedom until you carry a gun they don’t like. Then they have to convince you to carry something different and if you don’t change your mind you are stupid. I think you are perfectly capable of choosing which gun is best for you 👍 They should be glad you carry at all 🤷‍♂️

Well, here in Denmark its not allowed to buy a firearm unless you have continually been shooting at a shooting range under supervision for two years, minimum 12 occasions, and then the shooting club's head of board will decide, if he likes you enough to sign a paper, that he agrees, that you are sane/normal/non-murderous enough to be allowed to buy a firearm. But only a firearm in a calibre and type, that you have been using in those two years. Then, you are not allowed to carry it openly/ccw in public, it will instantly put you in jail 4-6 months if caught. Only use at the range. You are allowed to transport it to and from your safe at home, luckily. If you shoot a burglar, also if only lightly wounded, or maybe not hit, but is hurt when fleeing your home, you will be punished to a fine/jail and pay the burglar compensation. Seems fair....
@NightwoodGuns

Many people here take the gun-freedom in the U.S. for granted. We are doing everything we can to keep it. Laws in Denmark sound like they are going WAY overboard. And the self defense law is nonsensical 🤦‍♂️
@peterschaldemose7861
@peterschaldemose7861 Жыл бұрын
@@NightwoodGuns Maybe it's ok to have some sort of valuation of people before admitting them a firearm, but then, it's restricting freedom. Also, what about my 26 cm super sharp kitchen knife ? The legislation is rediculous here when coming to self defense. You will actually be punished harder, if you are trained in self defense like karate, since you then should know how dangerous the technique is and therefore not use it to your skill's extent 🙄 An old lady was punished for hitting a burglar with a broom and hold him back for the police to show up. Then he decided to jump out of the window and break his legs. The verdict mentioned, she was not allowed to block him from the door and hold him prisoner against his will. It's sick, but true. You are more protected as a villain here, it feels like. Sorry for the rant 😄
@NightwoodGuns
@NightwoodGuns Жыл бұрын
The problem with valuations before firearm ownership in the U.S. is that we’ve hit the point where disagreeing with the political party in power or wanting to remove books with illustrations involving graphic sex acts from children’s school libraries can get you labeled a domestic terrorism threat or mentally insane. If the government decides to enforce that, they could prevent their political opponents from getting firearms. And, of course, we are lucky enough to have a Constitution that guarantees us a right to keep and bear arms (even though it is being chipped away) We have some states here with similar self defense laws and it is pure nonsense. They just want you to be a helpless victim and it goes against human nature and our natural right to defend ourselves and our property.
@peterschaldemose7861
@peterschaldemose7861 Жыл бұрын
@@NightwoodGuns That's terrible! How isn't it possible to have a discussion without labeling just to label and alienate 🙄 Agree that they governments just want us all to be lemmings, only to satisfy those peoples' hunger for power and control. And it's no good. We can't control anything anymore here from what to build on our properties to raising our children. We have no privacy, since if you have cash, it is assessed to be money from work without paying taxes and the bank calls us to interrogate about transfers, if they think, they are abnormal. They can refuse to make the payment, if they think it's too suspicious. The children can't say him or her in school anymore, since apparently you can't know, which gender the other children feel like today, if any gender. We're talking first grade children ! So it goes a lot deeper than just firearms, but it's a very important focus point. I actually don't like politics, but sometimes you can't avoid it. Let us not turn your nice, joyful gun channel into an international politics ranting forum 😄

Solid argument. However, If you're not a LEO and you fire 15+ rounds or dump multiple mags at an attacker, you're likely going to be seen as having switched from self defense to aggression, and risk getting charged with a crime. Mass shooter is a different story, of course. Stopping the threat is the ultimate goal to save innocent lives.
@NightwoodGuns
@NightwoodGuns Жыл бұрын
Maybe, maybe not. Mag dumps are pretty common in self defense, but it might come down to forensics. If you obviously shot them on the ground (still potentially justified if they are not out of the fight) or pursued them and shot them while they were retreating (potentially justified if they are shooting back at you while running) then I could see that causing problems in court. Especially hitting them with 15+ rounds like you said… 😬 But you are right, LEOs typically have more leeway and protection than civilians. Thanks for the comment, these are good discussions to have!

Isn't is sad that if a CCW stops a bad guy with 8 rounds, he's seen as a criminal intent on killing they're attacker. If a cop does the exact same thing, it's a good shoot. I challenge anyone to find a police officer shot where they did only 2 shots center mass and then stopped.

I mean I'm going to carry a M1911A1 because it's the best feeling gun I've ever held and if I'm going to have a backup mag it's totally going to be an extended magazine because if I'm at the point where I need to reload why would I carry the same small capacity magazine that prevents printing if I'm already firing several shots, position possibly revealed, and all? Have a reliable gun that you can trust when you're at that point when you can't avoid trouble.

Very well put together sir! I personally find that the capacity weighs a little heavier than caliber. Do to the fear of being in a situation where I'm or a loved one is out gunned. A .45 caliber pocket gun or snub .38 might bark really loud, but only five times. In situations we've seen pertaining to mob mentality that bark will attract more attention than it can defend against. Just one opinion.
@NightwoodGuns
@NightwoodGuns 2 жыл бұрын
I’m glad you enjoyed the video! You’re not wrong. We’ve seen in mob/riot situations that discharging a gun can either make people scatter… or make even more people start attacking you. Capacity is king with multiple attackers. But, of course, the best defense: don’t be there.

Excellent vid! Considering that across all handgun shootings with all calibers, it takes an average of 2-3 rounds to stop an attack... and across all civilian self-defense handgun shootings where the average it ratio is 3:5 (only 2:5 for LE shootings)... if you had two or three aggressors, the average shooter is quickly into the range of "needing" 10 to 15 rounds in order to score enough hits under stress -- whether or not those hits are effective on target is an entirely different issue. Again, these are averages. But it definitely reinforces that concept that nobody who has ever been in a gunfight wished they had a smaller gun or less ammo.

I hadnt read the report yet when I posted my first comment... but given that the survey shows more than one assailant in nearly half of the instances where a firearm is used for self-defense, that only lends more credence to the idea that people would do well to try and be prepared for that coin toss, in terms of their ammunition capacity. I'm a little surprised that the odds of multiple assailants is that high.

Yes, police situations do pollute the debate. An important factor, alluded to in the video, is the psychology of the attacker. A bad guy who is willing to shoot it out with a cop is someone in determined "warrior" mode; he's expecting heavy resistance and his mind is set to fight to the death. That's quite different from the assailant who attacks the little old lady, expecting zero resistance. His mind is set on no risk. The cop needs heavy firepower, the little old lady probably doesn't.
