Got the Fort flaptrap cat shine shard. For once Bowser Jr. was actually useful. took about 2 hours but wasn’t too hard. Sorry if it wasn’t the few months you were looking for 😏.

@@haronka Which kinda makes sense. You cannot spawn that shine without collecting coins and the islands works like in sunshine/galaxy: You must defeat the first version to advance into the next one.

@@N12015 Yes I know, but I mean that it is surprising that all other cat shines are possible to colect coinless, I mean there are 92 non-blue coin cat shines and all are possible coinless according to Cmeecraft and Waluigigoeswa, which makes this one of the most successful challenges ever

@@haronka Second to the "No hover nuzzle" challenge on sunshine. In that one you can get literally every regular shine and 23 of the 24 blue coins one. It's even barely slower than the regular playthrough if you know what you're doing (The any% is 14 minutes faster, mostly due to glitches who require the hover nuzzle and less competition), which made clear the main hability is not something you're forced to do.

I mean personally the prop box move feels like a fairly clever workaround. Either way it doesn't really help with that one cat shard trapped in the wall and all the other shards are coinless so I don't think it matters.

You can get the Scamper Shores Blast the Fury Blocks shine without collecting a coin! I went over to get it, intending to use the same sort of save-scummery that was used to get the calico kitten shines (it saves when you get the shine, so if you reload, in theory you shouldn't have collected any coins). I guess I had positioned the camera perfectly or something, but when Mario finished getting the shine, Bowser Jr just flew out from the alcove, no coins collected!
