Helmet off to you sir for the good chuckle. When I fell from my bike 15 years ago, knowing what day, month or year was the least of my concern at the moment. I believe it's our duty to let people know that you can get a great watch like Seiko sapphire day dates for fifty dollars Chinese and Japanese hi beats for $50-$100 and hi beat all Swiss watches with ETA or sellita automatic movements in them for $250-$350, they are out there and they are hi quality accurate watches. I have many myself, people need to know you don't have to pay thousands for good Swiss watches or hundreds for good Japanese watches. And I've made it my duty to spread the word. And I believe Jody here also is on the same page. Keep up the good work brother. It's not easy finding these diamonds in the rough but it can be done.

The Longines is probably the most affordable triple calendar (or similar complication; annual calendar, etc) you can find (I searched really hard). But if you do not mind going to the realm of no name brands, well you can find such things like this. It is tempting but for me I think it falls into the category of a watch I would buy and probably never use. Even though it is such a great deal.
@Michael-46 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have seen these and similar ones and they all use that chunky case, I guess to house the movement. However like you say the lug to lug is quite reasonable and looks really good on your size wrist. I think for anyone OK with blatant homages it is a fab buy. Having been very impressed with the quality of their Lambda knock off it's a tempting proposition at fifty quid.

I have over 40 watches right now form $10 to 15k and as I am not ever going to spend 2,300 for the Longine's and I wore it to a wedding and it was awesome I am going to keep it. It is keeping good time a month in and while it may only get on my wrist a couple of times a year for >$50 bucks it seems a no brainer to keep it as it serves a purpose, I like it. Very interesting! But these watch will definitely not live as long as the calendar suggests 🤭 If you need a Watch with many calendar complications I would recommend you the zeppelin hindenburg lz129. It's a quarz with a swiss ronda movement, week counter, week days, day, month and moon phase (not a senseless day/night stuff). You get a great watch for very less. I think, most people don't realize the real problem with these cheap watches. They think that the weak point of these items is poor quality, but they actually like their incredibly low price. And that's where they make a mistake! They buy the watch because of its low price then they become dissatisfied with it and eventually get rid of it. Why does that happen? Because people get tricked by their own greediness. They go for the cheap watch because of its fantastic price, they may even buy another one, and yet another one, not realising that the easy accessibility of these watches and their very low price devalues the bought item in their (and others') eyes. That devaluation grows in their mind until they eventually get sick of the watch they once desired so much, and they decide to get rid of it. If it were a rare item, or if they had to pay a lot of money for it, they would consider the purchase much more carefully, they would treasure their acquisition, and they would consider it a valuable watch. One might argue that these watches contain simpler solutions and are objectively of a lesser quality than their western counterparts, which is obviously true, but then, those who complain will happily buy non-functioning, worn-out, even lesser quality watches from the 50's or 60's just because of their rarity or special interest, just to enrich their collection.

@caseydarrah Жыл бұрын
Highly unlikely unless you plan to disassemble and reassemble the watch. It's why the Seiko perpetual calendars just do Leap Year, L+1, L+2, L+3. If you know when the last leap year was (which is easy- if it's evenly divisible by 4 it's a leap year, except for if it's divisible by 100, unless divisible by 400- so 1900 was not, 2000 was) it'll give everything. Right now is LY+3.

hEAr'S SOmE WaTcH TipS: To keep these high-complication automatic Chinese watch movements from jamming, NEVER attempt to make any adjustments whatsoever to the movement using the crown or pushers during its natural cycle of the day/date change over. This cycle time can be different for every watch, which can start as early as 7:30PM and end at 3AM. Most start nearer to 11PM and end by 2AM. It's rare to have even an expensive one that changes over right at midnight. To see when your watch day/date change over is... during the daytime, simply advance your hands clockwise and take note precisely when you either feel your date advance engage or see it start to advance. Then, take note when the change over is complete. This is the period you never want to adjust your watch in. It's also good practice to always adjust your hands in a clockwise motion and wind the crown clockwise on manual wind and automatic watches.

Hi Jody I bought this and another gearbest watch, the sapphire quanguin, this one stopped working after 30 mins and the other had misaligned numerals at the 12 position. I'm beginning to think that the examples you review are the better quality examples. I'm very disappointed with both purchases.

So they're calling this Longines movement Caliber L687.2, Longines version of the ETA 7751. There are quite a few watches with this movement. All the same eyes, noise, and mouth, just a different pretty face. So, what is the Chinese version of the ETA 7751.

Take a look at Cheetah brand Chinese watches. Really nice for about $40.

Knock-off? It's a fake mate. They just forgot to put the Longines name on it.
