It's a song about communication. After Paul died the band was a mess, everybody hating each other for some reason but nobody actually saying anything. "Approaching Original Violence" it's something like "tell me why you're are mad, the real reason", it shows the importance of talking to the ones you love and show how you really feel. Edit: If you want a song with prominent bass, listen to Confessions from MFKR album. Hehe.

Well I think what happened was lots of us were recommending songs that we thought would float her boat more, as it were, than something like Disasterpiece did, and not just our own favorites, but then a bunch of hooligans made her listen to Scissors and Heretic Anthem and shit and now she's totally hardcore. (Also Spiders totally jams.)

Lauren at the beginning of this channel: This is not a Slipknot reaction channel Also Lauren: I would do Slipknot everyday if I could and that would be it I think it's safe to say you're a maggot now Lamooo One of my absolute favourite things about this song and maybe the whole album is that keg part at the end. It has the same energy as a drum roll which they've featured a few times on Vol. 3 and All Hope Is Gone, but a way different flavour doing it on the rim of the keg. Theres a video for you to check out called "Banging Kegs with Clown #6" if you want to see Clown unmasked going in depth with a fan about the kegs, how he plays them, why they started using kegs ect.

Joey. "I don't want to watch another brother die" was when they kicked Joey because they thought he was drugged out. But he actually had a neurological disease. It's a tough listen now that Joey is gone.

Approaching Original Violence Heard Corey say it was written after they had a closed door “b*tch fest” after the dismissal of Joey and the death of Paul, where they all yelled at each other about what was bothering them. Something along those lines. I definitely think every heavy bass section since Paul’s death is a nod to Paul, and I think this whole album is influenced by Paul (probably some Joey as well (good and bad)). Hell yea, it’s October! Perfect month to do a Slipknot month!😉😂

I feel really dumb right now. All these years since the release of this album and only now I've understood what AOV means lol I agree, since .5 Corey is at his best both vocally and lyrically I do think is about Joey. Corey always said Joey left the band because they decided to go their separate ways or something like that. I noticed that they all started to take better care of their health after Paul's death, and this is very clear even in their appearance. I think joey wasn't in this same place , not because he didn't want to, but his was just not there. I know about his illness, but I never believed it was just that. Many things in this lyrics fit this situation. Anyway, is just what I think. I don't know if what I said made any sense lol

I will be fully honest, his voice in this era was a problem for me, just as it happened with volume 3, those two have the worst sounding vocals in my opinion I repeat MY OPINION if you like them it is perfectly fine, I mean I love self titled-iowa vocals but that style destroyed Corey's voice completely so it all comes down to opinion, if you want my opinion as a singer his best voice is his actual voice, he now has a healthy technique that sounds great
