Also, we all should know that pro wrestling is typically scripted, but there’s also a wrestling style called “shoot” style. This is 100% real, there’s no script, and the matches aren’t predetermined. This “shoot” wrestling is especially popular in Japan. Systema is actually not a functional martial art, very much so. It looks good, but most of the techniques do not work on resisting opponents, and the techniques are often overly complex and reliant on pain-compliance or "pressure points" which do not work under real world combat conditions. Basically it's the Aikido of "military martial arts", there are some myths about it being taught to Spetznaz troops, but the H2H training they do is pretty much MMA, it's nothing like Systema.

Quick time events were uncommon to rare in video games back when RE4 came out, and even then, they were only done as a part of gameplay in certain instances (like a finisher to a boss fight a la Kingdom Hearts). RE4 popularized QTEs by not only doing it as part of core gameplay, but also as a part of cutscenes, and the Krauser knife fight was probably the best/most exciting implementation in the entire game. I remember reviewers at the time PRAISING RE4 for doing this, and particularly alluding to the intensity of the Krauser scene as the prime example of how fun, terrifying, and challenging the game was. It's funny how times change and QTEs are now met with such disdain and disapproval.

It was a big inspiration for games to follow for sure. God of War definitely took inspiration from it a few short years later. And then Spider-Man 3 killed QTE's for everyone haha.

I always knew Leon S Kennedy is a Taekwondo guy cause you see, he prefers to do kicks as his main unarmed striking move. Fun fact: Wrestling is one of the oldest forms of martial arts along with India's Kalaripayattu and traditional Japanese jujutsu. Just like other martial arts styles, wrestling has a lot of variations of the most iconic martial art: - Submission/Catch wrestling (The precursor to Pro wrestling. ) - Freestyle (Essentially, it's Olympic Wrestling/Greco Roman wrestling but with leg attacks. I was thinking of explaining Greco Roman wrestling but due to a lot similarities. Greco Roman Wrestling needs no introduction. Greco Roman Wrestling and Freestyle wresting have similar techniques but have different rulesets.) - Pro wrestling (Style needs no introduction) The fact that Leon knows wrestling too makes me love the character even more as a fan of this franchise and as a martial artist too. Couple of installments later all the way to the more horror oriented installments starting from RE7 to the yet to be released RE8, I miss seeing him in action. I hope we get to see an appearance from him on the next RE game. Maybe.... He could appear in RE8 too. PS: Make some noise for the Push kicks! Outstanding content as usual homie! @@Godzillarex Thanks for the compliment, I came from wrestling school and it is because one of our head coaches of pro wrestling school is a practitioner of the Karl Gotch style of Catch as Catch can wrestling. Through him, I really started digging through what all the styles of wrestling are. I'll get back to you when I got a lot of more information on my ongoing research on the style dude.
