Yeah, they gave him a much bigger role. I don't believe it's ever actually specified in the og that Luis created the device that kills the parasite, but the remake explicitly explained that Luis created it, and that without Luis, Leon and Ashley never would've made it out of there. Plus, he got a lot more screentime. The cart ride in the original is pretty boring, and so adding Luis to it, and also making it harder and more complicated made it more fun.

He’s probably my favorite character in the entire franchise after the remake. I was kind of mad they took out the ballistics jug because I thought they were leaning towards. She can’t say anything like that towards women without getting canceled, but I really think it fit is rewritten character better. That would be pretty obnoxious to see somebody in person and actually unlikable. I don’t think this new version of him would say something like that to a lady. It would be blast me blasphemy or I was hoping they weren’t going to kill him off haha Ethan is actually one of my top favorite characters after village believe it or not.. I will never and 1 million years understand the hate for that character! Leons always been my favorite but it wasn’t necessarily as person personality but now it’s his personality after the remake. And the merchant is another top favorite lol and the Duke. Hopefully we get an entirely new merchant character if we get a remake of someone and centric and likable as well as mysterious as the other two. Maybe some more lower, even if it’s almost throwaway jokes about how these merchants are connected. They have conventions for this kind of thing lol something is clearly illegal arms dealing lol

Honestly, what Nick said was MY experience with Resident Evil 2, and also why I love how they recorded it. I would wind up in intense moments, where I'd scream F bombs, or something, only for the character to sort of mirror that. I had one moment playing as Claire, on my way to the Orphanage, and a dog attempted to sideline me. I panic shot and nailed it while it was leaping through the air, and at the same time, Claire shrieked "STAY BACK!" It perfectly matched my own adrenaline from being taken off guard and reacting as quickly as I did. Simply having those built in reactions, as well as the inconsistency of the lines (you can hear some in one playthrough, others in a different playthrough, and sometimes none in others) helps with replayability and adds to the overall depth of the experience. OG Resident Evil 2 was my intro to the series, so Leon and Claire are two characters I am incredibly fond of. They absolutely did this justice, and Nick once again killed it in 4. They all did. I did, however, feel bad for the reception Ada's new voice actress got. I didn't disagree with the quality, but I felt the response toward HER was a bit harsh.

I'm pretty sure Leon (the character) was a smoker in the OG 2! In OG4, Luis asks if he has a smoke, and Leon replies "Got gum.", as gum is a nice replacement to cigarettes to ex-smokers.
