Boba Fett has some Polynesian martial art thanks to Temuera Morrison's heritage. Mando also got a martial art I call "protective father style".
@tokenstandpoint932 жыл бұрын
You're getting popular at my dojo since I have been showing them your stuff. I was having a discussion with a few friends (MMA practioners) they were saying that Mando uses Muay Thai since most of his roundhouse kicks are low, he throws a lot of elbows but his guard is more of kickboxing guard. I told them that it's karate because the guard is karate based, especially in Kyokushin [I practice an offshot of this style (which I just got promoted to 6th Kyu)] he does a lot of hikite (pulling the hand back) when he throws his punches, that we do a lot of gedan mawashi geri (low roundhouse kicks) plus the elbow and knee techniques he thows don't match the way they're done in Muay Thai don't match. I so did not catch the capoeira influence, nor knew Lateef Crowder was a stuntman in this series.
@Godzillarex2 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your promotion man! That's awesome. You are absolutely correct too, Mando's technique is Karate, not Muay Thai. Some people think that elbows and knees automatically equals Muay Thai, which is not always the case.

I very specifically remember noticing that low sweeping capoeira kick during the convoy chase. It stuck out as both cool and pretty flashy for Mando.

I enjoyed this one! I was honestly surprised that there was no mention of Mando using his knife in combat even though he doesn't use it as much as Hunter does. As well as when he executed a Krav Maga style knife disarm in the bar fight scene at the beginning of Season 1 as well as a few other moments I think. But hey, a great analysis nonetheless and keep up the great work!
@Godzillarex2 жыл бұрын
It was. In this case it was grouped with Shurikenjutsu since his knife skills don't really go beyond throwing it and occasional simple stabs. I felt giving him a specialized knife combat style like Kali or Silat would be overkill.

Excellent video as always! I would chalk up Din Djarin's spear techniques to be closer to wushu qiang techniques. Pedro Pascal showed very wushu-heavy spear work as Oberyn Martell, so it makes sense that some of that training carried over to The Mandalorian! In the fight with Moff Gideon, Din kicks the spear head so that it comes over the top, which is a hallmark of wushu spear technique.
