People are just pointing that quantity ≠ quality. And that's fair, that actually shows you cannot really master so many languages. I'm slowly coming to the pessimistic conclusion that at most a human can master about 5-7 languages, but not more. If you learn a language as a hobby, it's going to take several years to get somewhat good in it, acquire high and low registers of the language, learn to express yourself. The life is apparently too short to get eloquence in 18 languages.

@anonym понимаешь, речь идёт о том, может ли он прочитать с десяток книг классической литературы на всех тех языках и сам написать какое худое изложение без помощи словаря. У меня так получалось только с русским и украинским языком. Английский - все равно бегаю в словарь при чтении худлитературы, хоть и тоже шпарю.

Just for everyone out there , I wanted to point out the fact that he's a self-taught polyglot who works as an artist selling his pieces of art to tourist and international customer. With time and practice, he met new people from different countries who taught him phrases, words and other things in a language. Of course his new meetings with these tourist were only brief and short, so for an average individual not many would be able to have learnt 18 languages that fast and perfectly but he managed. So all negative comments should not be said in regards to his way he speaks these languages, of course constructive criticism is totally fine. Coming to my second point, there's always people who look awkward and dress weirdly in our lives. We will meet tons of individuals like this but have we the right to judge? Wouter ( which is the man, if some didn't know ) is one of these awkward people in life without really being conscious of it, but he feels comfortable in his skin and he's happy. And no hes not dressing up like that for more likes...

When speaking French, try to use "vous" instead of "tu" as personal pronouns when speaking to new people, it is considered much more polite, even though "vous" is a plural pronoun. for example: "Tu veux?" is improper and you should say "Voulez-vous?" instead. French is my mother tongue and I still made this mistake when I was young, so no worries, otherwise your French is very good, Cheers!

Hey, great french dialogue but I would like to give you some advice to improve as it is still a bit confusing. In french you should use the formal "vous" instead of "tu" to talk to customers, and avoid the direct "toi, tu veux"="you, you want" as it sounds very intrusive. You should say "Est-ce que je peux vous aider" instead of "Est-ce que je peux aider vous". I don't really get why you said "on fait quelque chose"="we do something" right after, it seems like you ask them to do an activity together and it could even have a sexual overtone depending on the context haha. On short distances, we prefer to say "aller"="to go" rather than "marcher"="to walk". While "aller là-bas" means "to go over there", "marcher là-bas" is interpreted as "go over there, and once you are there, walk". To say "walk over there"; you prefer "marchez jusque là-bas". Finally, but this is never something we, as french, matter a lot when foreigners speak french because this is a real pain in the ass, you should say "s'il y a des voleurs" and "ce n'est pas un problème"
@Tansheicoby
@Tansheicoby 5 жыл бұрын
@Pan It's not a french expression it can't translate, it is an english expression. It's a colloquial way to say that it's boring/annoying/hard to deal with
@Tansheicoby
@Tansheicoby 5 жыл бұрын
@Pan haha shit sorry I misunderstood. French uses specific male or female prefixes with no rule, so for foreigners it's very hard to remember for each word which prefix to put ahead. Then in his sentence he said "this is not the problem" instead of "this is not a problem". Once again, sometimes we may use one or the other without any rule to learn, you just have to know it. But we can still understand so we don't really matter when foreigners make those kind of mistakes.
@SexyAlien2
@SexyAlien2 5 жыл бұрын
@Sheit Good points. If you listen attentively, he said "à faire quelque chose" and not "on fait quelque chose". So it went "Est-ce que je peux aider vous à faire quelque chose?". In this context, it's better to keep it simple : "Puis-je vous aider ?" or "Puis-je vous aider à quelque chose ?" will sound 100% french native and, most importantly, respectful to the client.
@Tansheicoby
@Tansheicoby 5 жыл бұрын
@@SexyAlien2 Right! But still I think that "Puis-je vous aider à quelque chose" sounds weird and non-native. To express this I would say "Comment puis-je vous aider?" or "En quoi puis-je vous aider?" = "How can I help you?"/"In which way can I help you?"

One thing I noticed when you spoke german, french and spanish is that you always use 2 person singular with the cusomers. It is more polite if you use the 2 person plural (in german and french) and 3 person singular (in spanish). Especially with customers you should use definitely do that. I don't know if that's also the case in other languages, because I don't speak them.
