It has come to my attention I was the crazy purple player in your game, and I remember playing this game on my phone. I had no battery left at the end so it really was perfect timing, I didn't have any good cards on my first turn that didnt lock my cap until after pink slammed my cap with his behind stack on turn 1. The stacks that were blocking white getting bonuses like that were also slammed out by pink and red and thus feeding it to him iirc, your 2's and 3's were actually my easiest cards so I just went on the 4 for maximum meme funnies; although I didn't know it was you. I just always play full meme style on this map sorry^_^ My insane slam across the map after white came out with the 20 was just cause I had no other exterior so I just went all the way to the other side to make a bunch of ways to get cards later then I saw white was on the right too, guessing I was locked behind your cap I was just trying to survive while white, green, pink slammed me top right all game while I was just trying to keep a way to get cards. Nice play at the end I thought I had enough on cap to wait on the green kill for the perfect turn, purely greed, I knew I could kill green that turn but waited. gg wp!^^ wish I had my pov recorded to show.

You need to understand some players deliberately try to stalemate the game because they WANT longer games to increase the likelihood of their opponents botting out. It's a really easy way of farming a lot of point that doesn't require much strategy or thought. Just do what it takes to stalemate, then take a card and pass long enough for the other players to bot out. So, no it's not the player's fault. They're just doing what they think it takes for them to win. It's absolutely the game's fault.

@@j.r.8176, I understand the game design making this a profitable strategy, but it's also stupid that people don't play the game in a way that doesn't resolve to this. Wanting to win is understandable, but that's not the only goal. People are always the problem, it's just that circumstances enable them to be so. And having random wins with not much skill involved is a lot easier and more enjoyable to achieve somewhere else.

@@a_wild_Kirillian This game is all about keeping low profile till you have enough to sweep, if you are too active others will take the chance to hit you when you are weak and if you get too strong fast you will get teamed and later on card-blocked possibly, playing passive for long enough will at least give you a better position since someone weaker is bound to get eliminated for cards and they won't go for someone with high troop numbers. You have all kinds of players, a lot of beginners for example go crazy early game which makes them a bad neighbor to start the game next to.

Alcatraz is a surprisingly skill based map. It is not balanced, but that just adds to the skill. More random who wins than something like the meta settings, but it still heavily favors better players.

When I opened that four-hour video, I was like, “cool, a stream! I’ll watch the first game and then watch the next one later…” … I realized at about the two-hour mark it was all the same game.

On that first turn, purple didn't know where your capital was, and may not have known about white's either. So they had no particular reason to try to fight white out of the gate.
