“Fancy and expensive stuff” is an invention to disguise the emptiness.

Raymond Briggs, the son of Ethel & Ernest Briggs, is the very man who created the famous cartoon The Snowman, which is played on t.v. every Christmas. He also did other notable pieces, both in comic & t.v. show form.

I think he means The Snowman, an animated film about one boy who builds a snowman that chimes to life and they fly off to meet other snowmen.

@@The1Dragonprincess Ohhh! I've never seen this one, and now I am definitely intrigued. I loved Ethel and Ernest. There's a similar animated film that takes place during the war, and I wish I could remember what it was called. I believe I saw it on Netflix years ago, (no longer a subscriber) but I'm not sure. I wish I knew more films like this one.

I like how simple the love is. Not over the top, not to cringey. It’s how normal the love is between these 2 Yes Ethel is 5 years older than Ernest but age didn’t matter. And incredible art work. The color pencils technique really makes the film stand out and yes there are moments where you can see roto scope used but it very brief.

What? Living in poverty during a war??
@renevalice30562 күн бұрын
We did have this only a century ago. Not even a war of the time obliterated bond, love, and many internal qualities of being human. We’ve gotten impatient, lazy, individualized, greedy, and apathetic- it’s just a gen z 21st century version of it.

That's a wonderful story but honestly this is the reason why I don't want to get married I don't want to spend the rest of my life with somebody that I love just to lose them one day and miss them when they're gone

Would you prefer living your life alone? Living is risky, people come and go all the time, that’s what life is about. The important thing is to live life to the brim and count your blessings every day, especially the small blessings.

How normal, lovely, happy, natural and fairly satisfied with their lot, then along came the 60s. 😢 Free love, porn, drugs etc., etc., the end. I'm not naive, i realise it wasn't all pure and demure pre 60s, but it was out of sight not in your face 24/7.

I personally think choosing to not have kids is sad. Because if you don't have any siblings who will have some, your bloodline will be extinct. Plus kids are adorable, who wouldn't want some?
@tobyaseme97379 күн бұрын
LOL. Dumb take. Kids aren’t cute, and regardless, you won’t be alive to see your bloodline thrive, assuming it does.
@fyere8 күн бұрын
That's a very selfish thing to say. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but saying that someone who doesn't want kids is very disrespectful and hurtful.
@angel-dn6ym8 күн бұрын
The son's wife had schizophrenia. It's genetic. You are shaming them about not wanting to continue their bloodline when they would have passed on schizophrenia. So basically forget all caution and concern about your future children just breed. Who cares whether or not they don't want their child to suffer from a genetic illness like the couple in the story. Same with the main couple. The wife only had one because she didn't want to risk her health or the baby's. But according to you she needs to give the son a sibling regardless of whether or not she died trying or the baby dies or has issues. Let's just pass on our bloodline without concern to how that bloodline fares.
@starlarose22168 күн бұрын
Oh please, my grandma had it while pregnant with my dad, it was something that haunted him all the time even though he never talked about it but ik someone whose stronger then any "mental illness", and that terrible curse ended with me. Now my 6 children will not have to battle that devil because their mother wrestled with God over it. It's stupid to not live because of fear. @@angel-dn6ym
@NovaGirl87 күн бұрын
Having kids is a responsibility beyond something as stupid a concept as continuing so-called 'bloodlines.' You have kids because you want kids and are prepared to raise and love them. Kids are not accessories to further one's ego. And NOT having kids because you do not want to burden them with genetic diseases and disabilities is the right thing to do too. As is not having kids because you are NOT in a good standing to raise one. Children are expensive to raise especially if you want them to have a decent childhood as well as a good shot at having a decent adulthood.
