So glad to see someone making things from linens. I’ve been doing this for a long time. Couple tips from my experience: I always try to utilize the hemmed part of the sheet for the parts of my garment that need to be hemmed, like pant/skirt/dress bottoms or blouse openings. You were using a duvet cover which as a bonus already has buttons and buttonholes - cut the shirt/top with the front pieces overlaying that closure - you won’t need to make buttonholes or sew on any buttons! I made a really cute top from a couple of Kate Spade polka dot pillowcases. I got so many compliments on it. Don’t stop at using just sheets, I love using cotton tablecloths. Round ones make great bias skirts, rectangular ones give you a lot of fabric. Sometimes they have really cute border prints or fringe. Again I utilize the hemmed edges into my garment and the finish is amazing. I’ve also used fabric shower curtains for jackets and coats. Cut the front opening over the grommet edge and you can use cotton rope or ribbon to close the jacket. I made a really cute Channel style jacket from a white cotton waffle shower curtain. Love your vlog! Katie in Canada.

I saw a girl on TikTok cut her sewing patterns out on muslin, and then she literally just folded it up and like put it in a Ziploc bag with the name on it. I did that with a projector pattern that I make a lot, just to prevent having to dig my projector out every time I wanted to make it, and it has been a game changer!

I filmed this video already a few months ago and now I have found the perfect way to store my sewing patters!! I have a moveable coat hanger and then I clip the sewing patterns on a boot hanger and hang them up! It's so good!

This video is so interesting! You got to do so many things from just a bed sheet! Would love to see more content like this where you think of ways to make clothes different while talking to the camera, more improvised stuff

August 21, 2024 Maryland, USA: When using sheets there are some pretty ones out there that I have used. Look at quilted covers for making jackets. Love the sewing makes. Especially the tops with the ties instead of buttons.

Love this sort of vlog/ sewing diary vidéo! For bias binding there is a method to do bias from a square of fabric, it uses a lot less fabric than cutting a single strip of fabric on bias

Hi Susan. 😊 This made me abit sad, please wear whatever you like. There is no age limit to wear beautiful clothes. I'm 60 and I wear clothes like this all the time and I never get anything other than positive comments and compliments. Wear what makes YOU happy, not what makes others happy. ❤ kindest regards 😊 xxxx

I think I am going to like your sewing videos! You have a good way of speaking about your project but a mic would be so great, I hope you will be able to add one. Also, I would prefer to hear your narration or just the machine and working noises rather than the 7 repeated musical notes. Please don't be offended by my criticism, I think you should get many more subscribers this way. Thank you for sharing your work.

It seems that when you were cutting out a larger version of your sleeping mask, I didn't see you add any seam allowance which may be why it is still too small....but all the clothes you have made with your sheet look fabulous. I really love that stripped sheet. It is such a nice piece of fabric. Well done you.

@chantals8117

Question? When you cut the garments in all different directions according to the pattern on the fabric, is this affecting the fit due to the stretch going in different directions? Or does this work because there is no stretch in these sheets? Anyone have experience with this?
@Sewingwithsolana
@Sewingwithsolana Ай бұрын
for the pieces I am making it doesn't really matter because non of these require stretchy material and the sheets are also not stretchy :)
