In the 3 player endgame with noobs that don't know how to cardblock or do break your cardblocks, the best strategy is to take a card and pass and wait until your enemies get mad on each other. Anything else will make you loose troops and makes you easier to get noob slapped.

@@FreePete It's boring though. I tend to just take out the weakest player and then die myself rather than go for the turtle strategy. The most annoying is when another grandmaster plays the passive turtle style as there is literally no counter to it, it stalls the game horrendously, they never progress the game until others lead the act, and it takes forever for the game to end.

Honestly, I think that you should’ve left Magenta in the mix and finished off Orange instead. It seems like you gave all of your neighbors a reason to try to ruin you. Orange you took the cap from and trapped them behind black when you removed the Africa position. Black you broke both the Italy and the Germany bonuses on the same turn when you only needed to attack 1 of the 2. There wasn’t much reason to work with red anymore after they destroyed your position, but at the point that you were going after them, I’m pretty sure that they could have killed you outright(double-tap your cap) and gone into a 1 vs 1 against black with a disadvantage. Keeping Magenta on the board would have at least had a potential to have someone to work with that you didn’t damage your relationship with, and they weren’t really in any danger given that black had proven they didn’t know how to card-block.

Red's play this game was the most relevant. Red played like an expert. If he was better and stayed good with me we would have gone first and second. I get bad dice on the magenta kill and then Orange suicides into me, and then Red suicides into me enough so that black takes the kill. No need to overthink it. If the entire board teams on you you die.

@@FreePete My point was mostly that you gave Black and Orange good reason not to trust you, and when given the opportunity to finish off Orange, you passed on that to take out Magenta instead. Not much that could've been done differently with Red, but being down one thorn in Orange and keeping Magenta to bother black more than you would likely have been better. Perhaps I'm wrong, but that's my intuition on that.

Rule 1: Don't cap in corners (meaning, don't cap in pockets of the map like iceland, or places where you can't take a bunch of capital cards especially in progressive. But if you can find a cap that locks things behind you that's not necessarily bad. if you cap in a corner you are more likely to not follow rule 2, but remember caps defend better.) Rule 2: Put troops on your capital. (meaning don't cap near others, especially those who go before you, don't cap on ones in the fourth or later seat, and don't forget to continuously make your front line weak assuming you followed rule 1. People will take your cap and it's worth additional troops and is the win condition of the game.)

Hey Pete ! Even if it’s your play style I feel like killing magenta was a huge mistake… loosing a ton of troops and red stealing because of the small number of troops coming back to cap… Knowing how it ended, do you still think it was a good move ?

I know you're way more experienced than me, but I can't see how that magenta kill was anything but a bad move. You took a serious deficit, from over 300 troops to just over 200, a loss of about 100 troops. Is this a case of valuing good content over a win via stalemate, or is there something I wasn't seeing with that play? I know you've said part of your reasoning to targeting certain players over others is that "it's obvious they're good so they'll be harder in the one v one". It seems like with that move you exposed yourself to the entire lobby as a skilled player, and took a serious deficit while doing so, in such a way you had no ability to retaliate if red realized you handed them the win and started working against you. I was really surprised when you were surprised red turned on you.

This is the right way to ask this question. The magenta kill was fine with normal dice. I got bad dice, and then immediately red turned on me. Red turning on me is also a bad move for Red because he doesn't know how I'm going to respond to that and staying good with me ensures 1st or 2nd for him. So with normal dice and with a good ally (and a better quality player) in red we continue to dominate this game with him. But since we can't know who we're playing against we assume trust and remained vulnerable to red. A master or GM doesn't break me there so we learn about where red is at in terms diplomatic skill. Both things had to happen in that sequence for the game to go badly.

There is no way green was card blocked. Orange would need to have two territories that were stronger than green's cap in order to block the green cap. I would have taken out green though on the turn where they had the 5 stack on the outskirts. Just put a few troops on cap and then the rest into the 5 stack and then fortify onto the border with green's other territory. I'd have done that because a) green can't retaliate b) green is the weakest player at the board c) it forces green to take a card off orange.

I knew that you would lose the game because of your strange way of playing. You always say that you must show your opponent that you can respond to him, but you did not respond to the red one and left the orange castle empty. You should have put at least 100 so that even if the black one hits it, he will lose greatly, and you should have left the pink castle. It is empty because it is useless and also the Orange Castle is not good but it will be a kilogram to cause losses to the opponent if he has bad luck and I love your long videos❤
