Nothing wrong with utilizing the alliance system and communicating and doing that in-game, if you can manage it. Obviously it's cheating to do it with communication outside the game. What stops people is 1), it doesn't, people do it all the time unfortunately and 2) in a tournament setting, a likely lifelong ban from tournaments and the ranking system if you get caught is a pretty string incentive

After purple takes orient I let them keep it for as long as possible. Attempting to trade w blue up in scandi or trade in orient w purple. The orient steal was the worse possible world because I'm still immediately out of cards and the follow up was endless mutual attrition. Realizing that I would have to give purple something or they have no reason to stop breaking me. Magentas play has two layers of depth: expand, then because I can't expand further, suicide into my neighbour who stopped that. The alternative to that is to work with the neighbour at some point. Expert is about as good as you can get in risk with zero diplomacy.

That cap has only two cards so I'm switching to an easier position to card block later on.

Pete would probably make the case that once yellow started getting really strong then pink should have backed off and started working together for game balance. I totally get where you are coming from though. In the beginning Pink had every reason to try to kill Pete off quickly. In fact, had yellow not gotten so big so quick (and taken reds original cap back) pink may have succeeded in killing him in not too much longer. And I do hear Pete sometimes criticize others for doing to him what I've seen him do to many others when he has the strategic advantage. The question is should pink have backed off at some point. When yellow started getting close to 40 a turn and beyond it might have made sense to let Pete hold something and play for a longer game. But at that point I think emotions get involved and Pink got caught up in his fight with Pete. Ego and emotions can get involved where people would rather win the battle rather than win the war. But maybe Pink was right to stay on Pete the whole time. Suppose they make a truce and things stabilize to balance the game. Who would have had the long term disadvantage? Probably pink. He was the one with the South Russia cap. That's a two point card block. So once sets get bigger if it was four players, he'd probably have no future. As played he not only successfully eliminated Pete, he did so while getting four cards and almost breaking even on the kill, and he was able to get the Bulgaria cap that is much better in a three player late game. He still had time to team with Blue against Yellow and have a better shot to win in the end. Bottom line, we all may disagree with what the optimal plays were at different times and whether it was all strategic or emotional, but I wouldn't dismiss it as noob slamming stupidity. Pink picked his course and went with it, and it just never feels good when you're on the receiving end of a one sided situation.

He is showing everyone how to kill him. Who would have thought, deny Pete from holding bonuses and he goes to attrition. He says it all the time.

Expert is about as high as you can get in this game with zero diplomacy. Maybe he can't let me have orient because he needs cards. Usually in that case you want to take cards behind your cap because it leaves your cap line open to make kills, influence the board later on etc. In this case not only does he close off his cap line, he also immediately takes all the cards off that line such that he runs up against my cap and is out of cards again. Giving me nothing in the process. The steal was never going to work unless the player in my position was a giant passive cap stacker. Magenta had two options that were better than the one he chose. I'm sure many risk players would play like he did. That's kind of my point. It's not hypocritical to hope for better, It's good strategy.

i mean i dont see an obvious issue. There is a sense of pink's noobery, but i severley doubt collaboration. Red would have actually played, and had a proper playstyle if he wasn't noob capped in his bonus, screwing over the africa 2 point, and clearly wanted to bot or didnt care about the game anymore after that obnoxious cap choice. Pink on the otherhand did break pete, which in reality is what he says players should do when he is allowed to hold tonnes of board, though the cap choice was mediocre in the middle of a large 2 point pocket. Breaking and attempting to claim the orient when he had no presence/influence outside of the pocket makes sense, but denying pete any bonus is just noobery. Nevertheless, the odds of collaboration or being the same person would be low, or else you'd find that the playstyles would have worked in a manner that either has 1 player screw over the board whilst the other gets big, which is innately hard to prove as collaboration, or 2 players taking map and not inhibiting one another beyond normal gameplay norms of mutually beneficial interactions you can have with half decent randoms. If they were the same person, it wouldnt make sense for red to take forever. Using 2 accounts would require enough brain power to not take 50 seconds to take a card, especially with red having been on the opposite end of the turn order to pink. You cant run 2 steam accounts, unless they are on 2 pcs, so either they have a desktop/laptop combo next to them and they can alternate easily, or a phone and pc, which would not warrant a whole turntimer to make a move. I've played other games where I use 2 accounts at once (not for pvp/competitive games) (eg. wizard101 if any of you og's remember that classic) and swapping takes no time at all.
