I have multiple drawers of sockets too. No idea how many. We had a family owned trash business so I did a lot of heavy truck. Then I did a ten year stint as a foreign car mechanic too. I had to buy a lot of metric for that. I didn't venture a guess but suspected it was north of 500. Having done both heavy and light work really meant I had the collection too.

I asked my boss, the OWNER of the shop, if he "had any.. like.. external hex sockets?" He looked at me confused. "Like a six point external socket? No, I don't have anything weird like that!" I laughed, and went back to work. I'm not sure what came over me to ask, but it was funny because he most definitely had regular sockets
