It really depends on the fragrance as well. You can get away with 7 sprays of Prada L’homme but choke everyone out with 3 sprays of black orchid which is extremely potent. 5 is a good balance but knowing your fragrance and its abilities is best.

I had some people in the office complain about how strong Mancera Red Tobacco was, and i did 2 sprays. But 90%+ loved it. That perfume is such a monster, girls come into the office and from 5-6 meters away they smell it, even after one spray.

You have to plan your day when you wear Red Tobacco. I usually have to get up early and wear it for about two hours before I go out and expose myself to people. That's about how long it takes for that intense Cherry Benadryl note to dissipate on me. Once that's gone, it's incredible!

This GREATLY depends on the fragrance!!! I literally only wear ONE spray of Alien!!! Anything more is way too much & it lasts FOREVER if you spray it on a coat. I wear 6 to 8 sprays on lighter stuff. HUGE difference.

I would never spray cologne on clothes because they could stain the clothes. I found it best for when you get out of the shower, put on whatever moisturizer you use, then spray on the cologne. Let it set on your body plus, your body heat will activate the cologne.

I think the neck (on the sides) is the perfect place, because it spreads it subtly due to the fact your heart is beating. And you have arteris there bouncing off the skin, thus createing the wave effect for smell.

If the type is eau de toillete, I do 5 sprays. Behind ears, at the back of neck, and collar bone. If it is parfum, I just do 2 sprays and that will last the next day.

Excellent advice; it is rare now a days that you hear less is more but it is certainly the truth. Too much of anything is a nuisance and this includes fragrances. Part of what makes a fragrance so desirable and mystic is having a short-lived experience with it and reminiscing about that memory later. People who over-spray completely ruin this by making it something that you smell constantly, at all times. Although I mainly agree with this, I would say in the office setting or wherever you work, on average, one should spray by the 3, or less if possible. For instance if anyone works in the hospital, the five spray rule will be extremely annoying to workers and patients. Of course it's essential to know your fragrance; in a hospital environment on average EDTs and EDPs will be preferable as they tend to be lighter. Nevertheless, if you are going to work where you are in a close environment or one where your fragrance can interfere with your job or others (i.e. hospital) a light and fresh fragrance is preferable, such as the original Aqua di Gio. Stronger and more sweet scents can certainly be worn but you have to be very careful in application. For instance, in an operating room setting, one spray of MFK behind one of the ears of the neck is plenty; two sprays on a six hour surgery and someone is ready to cut your head off.

I had a bad experience with Aquolina Pink Sugar before. I was wearing it in a hot day, 4 sprays (2 necks and 2 wrists), and a friend of mine complained that it was so cloying. Now I just bought Lancome Tresor Midnight Rose and by far it smells so much better and more sophisticated than Pink Sugar, but I only dared put 2 sprays going to office. Is that too little?

I don't know man, but what I observed while in Germany, German basically don't like perfume. Normally people spray 3-5 times, but in Germany you only need to spray it once. You are the only one who can smell the fragrance lol. Even a soft woody and musky perfume like montblanc explorer is harsh on their noses if you spray it 3 times. I'm talking about the the general public in their daily life, it may be different if it is among celebrities.

I'd suggest spraying on your sleeve or wrists then. It will bring the scent closer to the height of normal human beings. Some people suggest to spray on the top of your hand, but then if you wash your hands it's gone, so avoid that.

Some people say spray on the middle of chest. Lol. I’ll mix it up but it seems the general consensus is 5 sprays is the safest for most situations. I also try to keep in mind that just because I can’t always smell it doesn’t mean they can’t. We are geared to not smell it all the time so we can pick up other scents. When the day progresses I tend to lose track of that though because I’m not sure if I can’t smell it because the day has gone by a bit or because I’m just smell fatigued lol.

How hard should you be pressing down on the nozzle? Do you press hard so it sprays out its max output, or should you only be pressing slightly so only a moderate amount comes out?

Press down the nozzle for about 3/4 of a mm for about one hundreth of a second while holding it about 3.5 cm away from your body, exactly 2 minutes and 35 seconds after getting out of a warm shower of 21 degrees at 6:30pm on the first Thursday of each month for best results.......Nah, seriously it just depends on how much you personally want to spray.
