I'm nearly 77. Around the time I went from high school to college the great classic guitar bands of yore exploded on the scene. The Beatles and Stones, The Who, Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, etc. I saw all of them live. These girls put on a better, more professional show. To me, they are like The Beatles, heralding a new era of real kick in the butt rock and roll.

"They said more with four chords than most bands can say with ten." Excellent insight, Prymal. The root of The Warning's music may be "simplistic" - but their approach in the arrangement is anything but. They frequently switch off combinations of singers, drum patterns, the way the bass and drums lock in (or don't) together, and more. Plus the occasional "odd" melody notes, as you pointed out, that Dany will sing. The result is instantly memorable material that at once sounds familiar but is extremely unique and has you coming back for more. As an example of how they change up vocals (plus some excellent guitar work at the end), check out their funky/punky song off the new EP called "Z". It's a live studio session: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opSvpnVorbGfY5o

THANK YOU!!! Finally, someone who doesn't say "just mised the guitar solo", that generally doesn't fit the song. That's one of the great things I love about this band, if it doesn't fit the song they leave it out. When they put in fills or solos, they always feed the song, never show off just to show off.

The warning is one of those bands that sound much more exciting live than the recorded versions of the songs. Some bands do so much in the studio that they aren't capable of live that when you see them live you are disappointed. But The Warning are one or the rare ones that just blow it out live. Dany's voice is much better sounding and raw/wild live. I like what you say about Dany and Pau being like crazy cause thats what I get too when I watch them. Dany's singing seems wild but wild in the best of ways. So intense and exciting and passionate!

Choke was supposed to be the only video from Mayday. After some waiting, they got their budget and shot their vision. It's not even one of their favourite songs from the 12 they recorded in the studio. But, as you have noticed, and their manager has said, the camera loves them. So this was put together with really no money. Borrowed phones and a friend's garage. At some point money has been found for more. I don't know if it was the label or the band themselves, but Martirio and Disciple got videos and Animosity has the collaborative cartoon video. And they're getting the views. For a band that's still not in the mainstream, not on the radio, they're gaining followers one view at a time.

Nice! The video was shot in a car dealership garage. It was done in two hours with 16 iPhones and a drone. The music is the studio version. The song was inspired by a Netflix docuseries called Unnatural Selection about the risks and rewards of gene editing - allowing humans to affect their own evolution.

Is it just a coincidence that the line “I’m not in danger, I’m the danger” is from the TV show Breaking Bad. I can’t be the first to recognize this because it’s in the show in a very dramatic scene where Walter White is tying to convince his wife he and the family are not in any danger, he says the line exactly like in the song (the show came first), when he says the iconic line it’s showing Walter has evolved from mild mannered chemistry teacher to drug king pin. This is why I can’t believe this song isn’t a little influenced by the show, if you’ve watched the show you’ll get the connection. That aside the song is so powerful, both in the music and the lyrics, I love this song. Stay Cool 😎 and… \m/ Stay Metal \m/

Very little of what they do musically is accidental. See "The Warning - MAYDAY IN THE MAKING Ep. 3". It shows some of how they create their music. As for influences, yes to Muse especially for Ale. She has been playing Hysteria since around age 9. In fact, she did a bass cover of Hysteria last year. It has 2.7 M views on The Warning KZbin channel and Muse reposted it on their social media as well. David Bendeth commented that Ale can hang with the best of them.

Yup - "one takes" are easy for them (well, relatively speaking), because they don't "just write songs" - they create *compositions* ... and more importantly, because it's extremely difficult for artists in any media to do, they create a "code freeze" moment when it's done, it's done. Then they play that tune, period. Which is absolutely *awesome* for fans seeing live shows, because pretty much what you hear on the album is what you get in the show. It's kind of shocking how friggin' REFRESHING this is to hear. 😋

I also love your description of Pau being crazy(either level you mention "just the right amount" or "batshit" works), because it's true. If you want to see more of Pau, I'm going to suggest the song "Narcisista - THE WARNING - En Vivo en Foro DiDi Monterrey" on The Warnings official KZbin channel. To paraphrase someone else, Pau beats the drums like they owe her money and actually sets a drumstick down to point her finger like the pissed off latina she is....all while singing lead. Add in the meaning behind the song, the fact that it's in spanish, and a tasty guitar solo, and you get another awesome song from The Warning.

Great reaction! 🎯 So many things to say I'm sure I'll miss half. Start with mundane details : Pau is the middle child, Ale is the youngest (and tallest) Yes it was filmed on umpteen iPhones and one drone. The sound is definitely from the EP but my understanding is that they were playing it live while filming. 👍 I love that you elucidate your process so well. You don't miss much that's for sure. Being the fan that I am, I'm always subconsciously surprised that reactors DON'T just begin reacting to The Warning videos exclusively upon discovery. I get it though. If you dig a little more into their earlier videos the journey will be worth the ride for sure. There is one in particular that just hits different than the rest. Written entirely by our illustrious Drummer but performed with her behind a piano rather than her kit: Black Holes (@ Dakota Bar is the preferred video) which she wrote at 13 about addiction and it's effects. Don't ask me how she got it so right but she has made at least half of TWA - grown men - squirt tears with that one. Now or later it's a must see. Thanks for giving so much time to these Ladies. I LOVE THIS BAND !! ✌💖🎼

My wife brought up the observation while we were driving a couple hours away and listening to their albums... "This was written when they were 14/15 years old, right?" "Yup" I replied. "Well... how the hell do they even *know* about this stuff?!? No kid that age should know about that!!!" I thought about it a bit, and can come up with two reasons: One, if we all think back to when we were that age... teenagers are immensely imaginative, probably more so than at any other time in our lives. And they observe _everything_ , because they're learning how to be "adults". And two is sort of part of that, and probably more related these days to life on the internet... As a kid, you see things, you hear things, you read things. You don't necessarily have to have a best friend who was lost to addiction to get a pretty solid understanding of how it works. Or live in an abusive relationship, or experience being entrapped by the twisted mental world of a narcissist or psychopath. Just reading about it and thinking on it will give any teenager a wealth of imagined horrors to draw from - often all too accurate.

Ale is currently 17, Pau is currently 20, and Dany is currently 22. They all have the exact same eyes and jawline. As for this video, it was shot with around 16 different phones and a drone; I think it says so in the video's description. There's a behind the scenes video for "Evolve," and the sisters were on the set for two hours, but setup and teardown took all day. Also, Pau got blisters from the gloves and the drone got caught in the hanging wires behind Pau. There is a live session for this song on their channel, but this isn't it. This is a standard music video with the studio version of the song playing over their performance. The live session video is great, though Ale's mic has a weird buzz on it that's distracting for me. I don't have another recommendation for The Warning right now; I'm sure everyone in the comments is talking about their new song, "Money," and with good reason. I'm going to recommend something that has no correlation with the Villarreal sisters, and it's "Unending Sorceress" by a Japanese band called Unlucky Morpheus. They're a six-piece, two women and four men, and call themselves "technical melodic speed metal," but they wear their prog and classical influences on their sleeves. What brought them to mind is that you mentioned you started off by looking into harsh vocals. One of their guitarists usually does harsh vocals while their primary singer, Fuki, does unique clean vocals. Also, "Unending Sorceress" is about Final Fantasy VIII. Nice commentary and I enjoyed the analysis. I'm pretty new to The Warning and one thing I like is how they manage the breaks. The breaks, like the red interlude, all make total sense, but they manage the energy to work back to yet another crescendo you didn't see coming. A data point on their video vs live. Pau said they play to a click track live, so every performance is spot on the beat which enhances their live performances. But that means they can use live footage in their videos and it doesn't look wonky. Everyone here says check out "Money", I agree, and you'll see what I mean. To really appreciate their stage presence, there's a cover they did of "Crazy Train" when Dany was like 13, Pau 11 and Ale was 9. It'll drop your jaw. When it comes to rock-n-roll, these sisters have got it goin' on.

Their songs aren't terribly complicated; they'll never be confused with Nightwish or King Crimson (there are a lot of TWA members who do like Nightwish, although I haven't been able to really get into them). But somehow, nobody else has written these songs, and there's more to the song than it sounds the first time. If you really want to see Dany's personality, watch the Lunario performance of Queen of the Murder Scene, where she plays the protagonist of the story. Ale is the youngest. She doesn't normally sing lead, but she has a smoky low register when she uses it (live versions of Choke in particular; I won't say more than that so you can review the live session version of that song). She is a bit more shy or introspective than the others. The sense I get from her is that she sees and hears everything and only says what's needed. She has come out of her shell somewhat on Mayday and her bass is a lot more than just rhythm. Pau is a force of nature. They played a few shows with an Argentinian trio called Eruca Sativa and did an encore together; Pau fronted the combined band: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fX2lXp-YYtZ-paM

After watching some reactors mentioning that they were using an unusual time signature like 7/4 and Paulina confirming in a short instruction video that it is indeed in 7/8, I finally got my answer. 😀 Also for these girl when they record an official video like this one, it is not a live recording, but at the same time it kind of his, because the girls said that they do play live when recording official videos, otherwise they feel that it looks fake, so they decided to make the effort to play it live, instead of just fake playing and lip-syncing.

It is a music video with the studio version as the music. But they do actually play their instruments while the video is being recorded.

One of their best songs in my opinion. That vocal part was weird and unusual for me when I first heard it. I’m a huge fan of Pau. She’s the right kind of crazy. Seriously though, it would be a blast to hang out with these ladies.

Man this was a great reaction♣♠. Fully agree with you that this song of them is also a hardrock classic. But as you will learn, hopefully in the near future, The Warning have already written a number of hardrock classics. Your take on the girls is in the good direction, but, and I know you did not mean it in a negative way, but Pau is a very very special human being. Her intellect is something special, though Ale has the highest IQ, as I have learned. Pau is the main influence on the lyrics and when you read those lyrics, it shows she is able to hoover over very different en complex subjects and give an interesting take on them. In 1988 the masterpiece 'Operation Mindcrime' was released and is till today extremely relevant for example: 'don't trust the needle, it lies'. I've got the same feeling with The Warning. They will be relevant for decades to come! Finally on Evolve and to wetten your appetite: buy a ticket for a concert near you so can experience the special choreography Ale and Dany have in store for you in this song☺. Keep it up sir. 2 3GO PS: March 25th 2022 will go into music history as a bad day: RIP TH♥

It might be time for you to watch an actual live performance. TW has always been more known a great live band than a studio band (until this new album 'Mayday', which is exceptionly well mixed and produced), so there are lots of great options. I suggest 'Dull Knives' for DeTour (a virtual benefit concert during the pandemic). After seeing their performance, Lzzy Hale said she really wanted to tour with them.

Thanks again! Love your reactions. The audio is the studio track, but they wanted to have the leads and mics in place to give it a live take vibe. They *did* do a live-in-studio version of this, later (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqncZoqFhpmknMk) so you can see how they arranged it for live (very similar, gotta say).

Watch one of their live shows from one end to the other suffering through the substandard audio and notice how they walk on stage and are playing within 20 or 30 seconds, no farting around with tuning or discussing shit among themselves with their backs to the audience, almost always moving onto the next song within a few seconds unless Dany does a short amount of audience interaction. BTW, you may be giving a bit too much credit to Dany for musical choices. It may be Pau, who is the group's arranger, basically.
