Not saying Ilia has bad grappling, but he started in the regional scene doing grappling, doing it in the UFC is completely different, there are many people who started with one style in the regional scene, and then changed for the UFC. We have not seen his grappling be tested so we cant make assumptions its UFC top level. We will see when Ilia vs Diego happens, then we can see a UFC submission artist against Ilia and see how he stacks up.

I truly believe ilia would beat everyone at lightweight. I think his toughest matchup would be arman and not Islam because I think arman would commit to a full wrestling gameplan. where as Islam would attempt to strike with ilia throughout the fight which could backfire.

Oliveria always gets hurt early, don't want to do that with Topuria..Dustin would be an interesting fight, cause how long he fights..Islam might have the best chance to win on the score cards..I think if Topuria is going to lose anytime soon, the odds favor Topuria losing by decision..Of course anyone could catch him, but, he never point fights, he's never trying to win rounds, he's always trying to get into range, and finish the fight..A taller fighter like Islam or Max who keeps moving, takes advantage of the reach, and refuses to fight in the pocket, could out point him..

DPs durability and boxing would pose some problems but I can see Ilia making reads and getting a late knockout like he did with Holloway. Olivera too chinny and too fearful of wrestlers to have any success. Arman doesn’t have the defence to prevent getting tagged, Ilia would prolly defend the takedown and find the chin. The fight with Islam is a coin toss.
