Thanks for producing such a thoughtful and analytical video. The specific problem I’ve been having when it comes to deck building is what to do about expensive staples (I run sapphire/steel). I was lucky enough to pull one Beast -Tragic Hero and trade for one Belle - Strange but special. I also invested in a pair of Tamatoas and Fishbone quills to supplement a play set of Hiram Flaversham, but I’ve just about reached my budget for what I can invest in cards. My dilemma is this: is it worth running the one of’s for the staple cards (which are usually played at 4) because I have them, even if I see them inconsistently. Additionally, is it worth it to keep them if I happen to see them in my starting hand, despite not being playable for several turns after. Or would it be better to cut the one of’s in favor of a more consistent engine. The problem I’m facing right now is that I’m not really sure what my win condition is. Basically I’ve been trying to ramp into some high cost, high lore questers, but I’m limited by the amount of high cost spenders I can actually afford. Currently running 4 copies each of Maleficent-uninvited and Gaston-Intellectual Powerhouse, as well as 4 Tinker Bell-Giant Fairy and 4 Cogsworth as control options.

I’ll add that I can’t effectively play test this deck on Pixelborn because everybody on that program plays decks at full power (because it’s free to do so) whereas the reality is I only need to compete with other budget players at my local shop. But local tournaments are inconsistent due to low player bases so there is no good forum for me to test in game capabilities for my deck. Any deck building advice is therefore entirely theoretical

Thanks for your comment! I would always suggest playing good cards especially if they are staples for the deck in the grand scheme of things - if you own it - you might as well play it instead of wishing you should have kept it in instead of replacing it for a less impactful card 😊

Part of the difficulty doing the math on Amber Singers is the Singing discount, or singing in general. Technically you dont need the level of ink necessary to sing your most costly song. So Amber Steel doesn't technically need 5 ink on turn 5 for A Whole New World, it just needs 3 on turn 3 for Ariel, or 2 on turn 2 for Shift Queen.

Yep! Which is why I wanted to put the ink cap to 5 but realistically the deck can cheat it out even sooner!

@@gillygabyte The point I was trying to make (poorly) was that it's like trying to teach Magic players about Mana Bases by showing them Dredge. Singers is basically the only deck that can run that way, but I understand your point. I love the video, I actually think you should do these more for different decks.

So Zan's deck didn't even face a green deck so the information isn't super accurate because there could be a time where his deck fails against that and his ink will be off due to the fact that there are counters towards steel song. Nothing feels worse than having a full hand of uninkables. So if people are comfortable with it then good for them. No matter what the stats show I definitely won't be playing 21 uninkables. For your matchups did say what each deck you faced? Noneless the video is very informal and good to know.

I didn’t mention each deck but I did deeply discuss the opponents % and I was playing against really successful players based on their match history and my deck had a 70% WR according to melee at the per game level! History: 🔴🟣 location control 🟢⚪️ discard 🟣⚪️ aggro 🔴🔵 item ramp
