Having a beautiful white smile is no longer a privilege that only Hollywood celebrities can afford; dental veneers are available to everyone.
But, when getting this treatment, it's important to understand the number of veneers you will need to get an ideal look. Some patients might get confused finding out if they have to do their top and bottom teeth or how many veneers they should get? In today's video, I will guide you to answer this question.
I'm Dr. Rodriguez General and Cosmetic Dentist in Cartagena, Colombia. I'm here with another video to help you get the beautiful smile you desire. I'm glad to see more people getting interested in taking care of their dental health, so I love this opportunity welcome you to my channel. Veneers are thin shells made of composite or porcelain shaped like a tooth that give you a better-looking smile. The color, shape, alignment and size of your teeth will be improved to make you look phenomenal. Veneers not only improves your teeth; it also increases your self-esteem, and in this other video I explain some of their other benefits.
To find out how many veneers you might need, we need to look into your smile and your expectations as well. However, from a dental perspective, we have some parameters to consider before making any suggestion.
THE PARAMETERS ARE: Patient expectation, Smile Width, Desired Color, Shape & Size.
1- The first parameter always will be "YOUR EXPECTATIONS". What would you like to change with your smile? Is it a single tooth that bothers you or several? Is their shape? Is the color of your teeth? Among others.
Once you have set your expectations, usually we make a facial and dental examination to come up with a plan. I wanted to make this step simple, so in this video, you can do the analysis yourself, all you need is a mirror. Go and get it.
2- Smile Width: Checking out your smile from the side as well as the front. How many teeth from the upper arch are shown when smiling? 8, 10, or 12?
Top teeth only, or bottom teeth also: The lower teeth may matter less or even more to some people. Here we’re going to consider if when you smile, do your lower teeth are shown? And if they do show, are you comfortable with their appearance? Consider having veneers on the bottom if you don't like the way your lower teeth looks.
3- Color: if your goal is to brighten the color of your teeth, then a whole veneer set will be needed.
4- Shape and size: are you uncomfortable with the shape & size of your teeth? If yes, how many of them you dislike?
After this analysis, you should be pretty close to know how many veneers will give you a smile you like … was it 12? 4? How many? Leave me your comment
Frequently a veneer candidate with a very broad and big smile will require more veneers to complete the smile. About 12 to 24 veneers. Some other patients pick a more conservative plan that considers getting 8, 4 or even two veneers depending on each person goal. As I said before, it depends mainly on your expectations and on how significant is the change you are looking to achieve.
LAST TIP:
I suggest you Never Get 6 Veneers! Why is this? Because it can make the smile look very odd. Look at this picture… Many years ago, veneers were only placed until the canines because the materials used by that time were not strong enough for posterior teeth. Getting six veneers is still common for some patients looking to reduce costs, but in the end, it's not a good idea. The results with six veneers usually appear excellent if you see straight ahead, but when you smile sideways, the disproportion is noticeable. Our prices are very affordable, and the new materials are very resistant. That's why nowadays veneers can be placed up to the premolars for more harmonic results without hurting your pocket.
This video was made to clarify your expectations about the new smile you're looking for. Ideally, you and your dentist will agree on how many veneers will be necessary to achieve your dreamed smile.
Please leave me a comment saying how many veneers you want?
