How Marine boot camp has changed in 2021
Recruits with Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, arrive at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Feb. 9, 2021. Once recruits stepped off the bus, they immediately began the transformation from civilian to Marine. For the first time since it’s opening in 1921, MCRD began integrated training of male and female recruits

@@rusty7984 It all depends on what company/plt you end up in. If your in 1st, 3rd, or a lot of 2nd bn, you’ll probably be surprised by how it’s nowhere near as bad as they say. The boomers are right that things have gotten easier since 1918 or whenever the fuck they were in. That said, there are some platoons and drill instructors (mostly in Hotel Co) that still keep the standards high and often break the RTOs in order to make better-disciplined recruits. I had a DI who believed putting hands on recruits was essential, and unfortunately, he was fired after he got drunk and Jarheadred a recruit’s head into the wall. He had been doing that stuff all cycle, and while illegal, it also made it feel like boot camp. I’ve also seen DIs who are lazy and don’t take their jobs seriously. It’s all about the passion they put in. As a whole, as long as you think about that day and just keep trucking, you’ll be amazed by how fast it goes. Just don’t get injured, or you’ll spend more time on base in medical rehab platoon. Also, don’t get caught fighting too much. P.S. The evaluations are easy as fuck. Don’t sweat T-32 or T-54 or any of the other ones the DIs try to scare you with.

@@Galacalactus Well from the looks of it ill be put into Bravo company main thing im worried about is the hills and well now the heat other day at work was sweating like crazy. @Galacalactus
@Galacalactus 3 жыл бұрын
@@rusty7984 The hills are steep, but honestly not as bad as they’ll be at SOI. You’ll do drill and all that fun stuff first, then you’ll make movement to Camp Pendleton for all the hikes/shooting/field stuff. It’s moving into summer, so you won’t deal with the cold as much during the night when your sleeping outside, which will be nice. It will be hot during the day though, so if you know you sweat a lot, hydrate extra. You’ll do 4-ish hikes before the crucible, and your pack will be around 60 lbs, which isn’t bad at all. The thing you have to worry about are movements, which aren’t official hikes, and thus are conducted at a very fast pace with a lot of stuff. Generally they’re less than 3 miles, but time is a necessity, so they are a slay. The movement to the field barracks was the worst one we did. We carried 10 MREs on top of a bunch of extra stuff, which was crushing. If your chunky it’s fine, but expect the DIs to make fun of you every chance they get.

Just to play devil's advocate here, but isn't the purpose of enlisting to serve your country and embrace self-sacrifice? Shit like that? So if you see that the military, given it's role in the global theater, is on a downhill trend, shouldn't you logically rather be interested in reenlisting in order to strengthen the military and better defend the nation? Or at least be sad that you left and didn't enact a change for the better? It almost seems like an enlistment is only worthwhile as a means to clout, from what you say.

I am a Marine poolee, and I have no problem with women serving. I do think that standards shouldn’t be changed just to make it easier for women to become deployable infantry because that is how people are going to get killed. Congrats on your enlistment. You are about to become a United States Marine! I applaud your decision. I enlisted in 1974 at 18 years of age. I served 6 years and never regretted it. Unfortunately the Marine Corps has been pressured by the liberal left wing Ass-Clowns to reflect the same bullshit appearance as the Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force has done for many years! They are all very soft in their basic training. Let's hope that the Corps keeps the tough training for the men and allows the women to appear to be "training alongside them" so the left can think they have achieved something. I support any female that enlists in the Marines. But I also support NEVER lowering the standards for anyone Male or Female, that desires to become a Marine! Good luck in boot camp. Do not listen to anyone who discourages you. Do your best and push yourself as hard as you can. The best advice given to me by my father-in-law (a decorated Korean War Marine Veteran) as I was headed off to Parris Island was to remember that it is all a big game designed to break you down and build you up. If your in shape then that is one less thing to worry about. If you can listen to instruction and react as told then you will be fine. If a Drill Instructor is screaming in your face, just chill and know that it is all part of the game. When you complete the Crucible and receive your Eagle, Anchor and Globe you will look back at Boot Camp and realize that you accomplished something. Less than 0.8 percentage of the American population has served in the USMC!!! Stay Strong, Stay Loyal and Stay Proud!! I will say this to you now, but it will not have any real meaning UNTIL you graduate. SEMPER FI DEVIL DOG!!!

Your knowledge of history isn't that great either. How those Marines survived Iwo Jima, Chosin, Hue, Beirut, and Fallujah was because they were there for each other! You seem to be all out for yourself. Hopefully, a Recruiter (who cares more about the Corps than their quota you will fill), or a Drill Instructor finds out what a selfish individual you are, because you are toxic.

@@dwill5724 okay, man. Seeing the number of messages you have posted/deleted shows that you are going back and forth with this. Critical thinking is good. It shows maturity and growth. Before you step on the yellow footprints, keep this in mind... EVERY recruit deserves a chance. The only thing the Drill Instructors will ask recruits to give is their best, and the DIs will push you all (in so many creative ways) until you do. The 50-70 guys who will be in your platoon will be the most diverse group of people you've ever been around in your life. Good ol' boys from the south, privileged middle-class kids from the suburbs, former gangbangers and street kids from the inner city, immigrants from third world countries... you're all going to have to learn to work together, because you all want to be Marines. Be a leader there. If you happen to train with women, know that they ain't going anywhere, so, you can help make them the best Marines they can be, or you can choose to be a bully and drag them down, which will only make you look bad in the end. Do the right thing, man, it'll feel good, you'll be a better Marine for it, and when you earn the title, I'll be proud to call you "brother".

I don’t get what’s so hard to understand about the simple fact that men and women have inherent biological differences. Yes, we are all human, but saying a woman can naturally pull more weight than a man is just being stupid, it’s not being “misogynistic” or “sexist.” Its called reality. Most average healthy men can bench, squat, and deadlift more than professional women powerlifters who are using PED’s, if that doesn’t show you something, I don’t know what will... Integration on the battlefield will be the death of us. I could maybe see a reason for women who only do admin work, but considering that all marines are required to be battle ready, it just doesn’t make too much sense. Go tryout for special operations in the Marine Corps before you comment anything about “Old corps new corps bullshit.” End of story.
