I spoke a lot about profit in this video, I imagine that EBITDA is the thing that the folks at Matchroom tend to look at to determine the “success” of the bottom line. However it’s hard to find those numbers for each sport specifically so spoke largely about profit instead! I really enjoyed this one. Eddie Hearn is a genius rugby needs someone like him to promote the game - the product is good but the marketing is abysmal compared to other sports

Couldn't agree more. The concept of a Commissioner doesn't exactly happen here like it does in American sports but Rugby could definitely use one. The entire sport needs a lifeline badly

Long term rugby player and fan here and couldn't agree more. Needs massively better commercialisation.

Wow! Greak breakdown, I just subscribed. I havent seen an in depth analysis like this for matchroom from any other channel As a combat sports fan (boxing and mma in particular), I would love to see breakdowns for: Boxxer: how they came up, will sky stay in boxing? Queensberry: who are absolutely killing it in boxing especially since partnering up with turki al sheikh Pbc: only had 5 shows this year! But they used to be the biggest boxing promotion imo Misfits/mvp: although i wouldnt consider these to be a part of actual boxing, it would be interesting to compare influencer boxings 2 biggest stars companies (ksi and jake paul) revenue to professional boxing Pfl: would love to see how they compare to the ufc. Theyve signed some big names like ngannou and partnered up with jake paul Just some ideas

I’m a big boxing fan and for many years impressed how obsessed Eddie Hearn was with boxing. Literally could sell snow to an eskimo. However late last year/start of 2024 he lost his mojo, fighters have shown discontent with him publicly rather than privately. The dazn deal was a way match room could control the set up from the lights to the commentators, which to be honest has the best in the business. It’s starting to show it was a mistake, clearly the money wasn’t in comparison to dazn which business plan was to bid for the premier league like in germany. Loved watching this.

In Rugby, a VC or State Owned Investment company should buy the Currie Cup in South Africa. Have 8 Teams in D1 and 8 in D2 Sign back all the best SA Talent and the best 3 Players in Every position in the world (24) each D1 team gets 2 stars and D2 gets 1. A 14 game regular season and 2 game play offs all happening between January and June, would be the best way to build a Rugby Product. The time zone is perfect, the fans already know their team, the infrastructure is there and the depth of talent. High School and College rugby is also thriving in SA. After 3 or 4 seasons, you could bring a Round to Twickenham etc and build from there, but it must start in One country and build from there

On paper this sounds delicious. A VC would require a substantial return on investment to make this viable. Do you see that being possible here?

@TheLongPlayUK16 күн бұрын
I spent a long time trying to find the size of the investment and the valuation and couldn't find anything concrete. Maybe we will learn in the next set of accounts. It hasn't been the best "market" to raise capital for all firms recently but with the recent exposure to Saudi I'm of the belief Matchroom are in the best position they've been in for some time. A £1bn valuation would be exceptional for the family.

Only issue I could foresee with DAZN increasing their part in Matchroom success would be DAZN becoming a single point of failure \m/
@TheLongPlayUK16 күн бұрын
Tell me what you mean by this
@officialmcdeath16 күн бұрын
@TheLongPlayUK the concern I raise is that if DAZN is the vehicle for too much of the Matchroom income, what happens to Matchroom if an issue arises with DAZN? \m/
@1draigon16 күн бұрын
its a bit scary how they are relying on the gulf states wanting to sports wash though. all the events IN them with big money partnerships and also DAZN who are not profitable at all i hope it lasts but at some point that could fall
@TheLongPlayUK16 күн бұрын
I think the numbers in this video show that they were doing very well before the Gulf states got involved. Would not say they are reliant on them at all!

Dana White is pronounced “Day-na”. Does someone write a script for you for these videos? Comes across like your own words largely!
@TheLongPlayUK16 күн бұрын
I had help with the research for this one from an excellent chap named Preston but scripts are all written by me. Quite a time-consuming part of the process but one of the most rewarding. Glad to know it comes across authentic!
