nice video but I just signed up for part A and part B but it did not say anything about part D. (I will hit 65 in 2.5 months) So how do I sign up for part D?

Good question. SSA only handles Part A & B enrollment...not Part D drug enrollment. Once you have Part A, you're eligible to enroll in a standalone Part D drug plan. And once you have both Part A & Part B, you're eligible to enroll in a Medicare Advantage (Part C) plan that includes Part D coverage. You'll need your Medicare # (from your Medicare card) and your Part A & B start dates on the application for coverage with the insurance carrier.

This is the most clear explanation of Part D I’ve seen. I think I finally get it! Thank you!

Glad to hear this! And then in 2025, it gets so much easier with no more donut hole. 😀

@@MedicareMindset Excellent. I turned 65 last week and just signed up for Medicare A and B and a supplemental plan. D is next. I just discovered your channel, so I’ll have binge watch to make sure I’m doing things correctly!

@@anthonygardner400 Great! It sounds like you almost have everything wrapped up. Just make sure your medications are covered in your Part D plan in 2024...but also in 2025. You can confirm 2025 in October when the 2025 plans are announced. If necessary, you can change your Part D plan between 10/15-12/7 each year for a 1/1 start. With Part D changing quite a bit in 2025, we recommend you double check your plan's coverage of your drug list in October.

Thanks so much for the explanation and all of your videos. You explain in a way that anyone can understand, which is so important, because Medicare can be complicated!
