I manage my time by prioritizing the things that will be useful in the future for other people. I'm not going to spend 2 hours watching KZbin videos of "prophecy experts, because, as my old boss Bob used to say, "You have to do what you were prepared and gifted to do." Check this out!

I love that he does not "tell" us how to think. I literally just wrote this somewhere... he presented the "data" and then I can make my own decision. I keep writing this on his videos that I find on youtube even posted by others.

@@garyg7549there's also a time in the end when all of our work is tested by fire and what is profitable stands and what is not is burned away. His work will stand in some measure because he was faithful to the kingdom.

This is a good video but for one sentence. "What does the text say?" Heiser doesn't go with the text but uses some underlying Greek of his choice. We don't even know which Greek he uses, there's so many choices. If he would just teach the Bible that would be fantastic, but he doesn't. By way, for full disclosure, you all know we don't have the original Greek correct? So Scholars and Greek professors go with Greek manuscripts of their choosing to tell us what God Said. Then they'll say from the pulpit, "this is what God really said" and contradict a Bible passage. So to use a Heiser term, I think that's a problem.

What Bible edition do you hold as being contradicted?

@@R9500pro1 a Roman Catholic will say, you need to "obey Jesus" to make it to heaven and have eternal life. And use John 3:36 for support. But if you read John 3:36 in KJV it tells a totally different story. The issue is instead of presenting KJV as an alternate and perhaps correct scripture, they will say it is incorrect, wrong, and in error. That's a problem.

@@garyg7549 Gary correct me if I'm wrong. I think you are targeting the Greek word ἀπειθῶν "apeithon" here which the KJV translates as "believeth not" and the critical text typically renders as "does not obey" ?

@@R9500pro1 Again you're not understanding my point. Where are you getting that Greek word and from which Greek text? If you can answer that I'll be impressed. If not, you're like the rest. You use some Greek manuscript of which you have no idea where it came, how it was changed, who was in charge of it etc. That's my entire point.

@@garyg7549 Gary, you are correct I have not understood your point as of yet. That's why I have asked a couple questions. I'll go ahead and answer your question. Hopefully, you will do me the same service. To find the Greek word that I supplied in my last comment I am using the "English-Greek Reverse Interlinear The Cambridge Paragraph Bible of the Authorized English Version: New Testament" The Cambridge Paragraph Bible of the AV is sourced from Frederick Scrivener's collection of Greek manuscripts of the Textus Receptus. This was originally published by Cambridge University Press in 1881. For the critical text to compare with I'm using "The English-Greek Reverse Interlinear New Testament Lexham English Bible". The reverse interlinear for the New Testament Lexham English Bible is sourced from the Society of Biblical Literature Greek New Testament. On the SBLGNT website they say this NT edition uses the following Greek manuscripts: Brooke Foss Westcott and Fenton John Anthony Hort, The New Testament in the Original Greek, vol. 1: Text; vol. 2: Introduction [and] Appendix (Cambridge: Macmillan, 1881). This justly famous and widely influential nineteenth-century edition of the Greek New Testament was one of the key texts used in the creation of the original Nestle text1 and was used as the initial basis of comparison in the creation of the United Bible Societies' Greek New Testament.2 Samuel Prideaux Tregelles, The Greek New Testament, Edited from Ancient Authorities, with their Various Readings in Full, and the Latin Version of Jerome (London: Bagster; Stewart, 1857-1879). Although the fine edition of Tregelles has been overshadowed by that of his close contemporaries Westcott and Hort, his textual judgments reveal a “consistency of view and breadth of appreciation” of all the available textual evidence not always as evident in the work of his major nineteenth-century colleagues, who display (to varying degrees) a tendency toward a preoccupation with the latest “big discovery” (Ephraemi Rescriptus/04 in the case of Lachmann, Sinaiticus/01 in the case of Tischendorf, and Vaticanus/03 in the case of Westcott and Hort).3 Tregelles offers a discerning alternative perspective alongside Westcott and Hort. Richard J. Goodrich and Albert L. Lukaszewski, A Reader’s Greek New Testament (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 2003). This edition presents the Greek text behind the New International Version4 as reconstructed by Edward Goodrick and John Kohlenberger III.5 It thus represents the textual choices made by the Committee on Bible Translation, the international group of scholars responsible for the NIV translation. According to its editors, this edition differs from the United Bible Societies/Nestle-Aland editions of the Greek New Testament at 231 places.6 The New Testament in the Original Greek: Byzantine Textform 2005, compiled and arranged by Maurice A. Robinson and William G. Pierpont (Southborough, Mass.: Chilton, 2005). This edition offers a text that is a reliable representative of the Byzantine textual tradition.
