I'll be honest... being poor as a teenager made me embrace minimalism... this style is so comforting now, it made me realize less is more and that you can live healthy, happy and content with yourself by having and owning less stuff. It's even better for those who are not so fortunate to be rich and wealthy but i also think this is trending in rich lives of wealthy because they finally see that owning less and having less is not that stressing like being a hoarder buying stuff you don't need, spending a lot etc. I may be wrong, but minimalism and this concept of living with less has changed my life and perspective. I don't need to have a full dressing, 3 cars, 2 penthouses and a platinum credit card to be healthy, beautiful, happy and confident. When you finally get to enjoy living a minimalist life, not caring about materialism, consumerism a lot, you are lucky.

@WarriorQueen. Agree... less is more. In de-cluttering I’m also changing food and clothing: Food: is now better quality and eating slower to savor. It’s hard not to eat standing and moving but trying to be present. Clothing: Rarely bought fast fashion, but thrift store high quality. I have reduced some ‘pieces’ never worn in 2 yrs and/or garments kept for the person I wanted to be in some magical future. Relief. Well wishes and thanjs for your detailed and insightful comment. I related.

As a teacher here in the U.S. many pu license schools have adopted uniforms and the students dislike it but the parents love it because it saves time in the morning. It makes me wish the teachers have a uniform so I made a capsule wardrobe (black pants and a set of approx. 8-10 stops/sweaters) oh it's cold here for most of the school year.... Lol. So I essentially had a "uniform" for my job and it made getting ready so much simpler.

We can always have a ‘uniform’ by choice. That’s interesting, thanks for sharing Kaitlyn!

Many people thank our service members for their service in the military. I think teachers like yourself deserve as much and in many ways more acknowledgement. You are inspiring the mind of our future. So, thank you for your teaching service. 👏

I have gone to both types of schools my experience is schools that don’t require uniforms the students spend their trying to dress alike for fashion or their group. Schools that require a uniform the students spend their time trying to be unique and individual. I prefer uniforms

I don't mind hearing your story over and over, Cheng. It's interesting and you never say it exactly the same way twice tbh which is refreshing. For me , major life changes and feelings of not being in control for a long time have pushed me into minimalism. It really helps take me out of the analysis paralysis and overwhelm I feel when I have too many choices. I still like fashion but I do a rotating capsule system. Also that trick with the scale was clever

Military taught me this and my civilian job as a nurse taught me how to sleep 30 minutes and waking without a clock. I used to work seven 12-hour nights shifts in a row. By night five I would be extra tired and would sleep for my lunch break instead of eating as this kept me more alert.

Local SGrean right here. Just completed my reservist last week too. Though it was definitely sian going back to the military life, I must say there was a sense of nostalgia and joy in doing tasks already set by other people. When I ORDed it felt like something was missing again from my life and then I realised that NS actually taught me a lot about being tidy (even though I'm already quite an organised freak) and following timings and rules. To have someone else set your day for you was ironically refreshing and less worrying mentally as you already know what's happening during the day. Love this video man.

I notice that when you weighed your Seiko watch, the strap was partly supported by the worktop, not the weighing scale. A serious error that could result in your forearm or spine shattering. Another point, you weighed the watch at around 03:29 (or 15:29), on the 21st of the month. If you had weighed it at 23:59 on the 31st of the month, it obviously would have weighed more, because of the bigger numbers, so the data would be more useful in your calculations. Other than these oversights, a very nice video.

I encourage you, as you go ahead on your minimalism journey, to think deeper, to reconsider the meaning of life. You may find, that militarism will never be the answer. Militarism will never bring people together. P.S.: Despite of the mandatory military service, most people aren’t minimalists in Austria.
