In the early 70s I was a Spec5 stationed in Germany. Two buddies and I went to a movie theater and ended up sitting behind an "old" woman (probably ~30) who kept chattering loudly with the kid sitting next to her. I finally leaned forward and whispered in her ear, "Ma'am, could you keep it down, we're trying to enjoy this movie too". At the end of the film she stood up, turned around, and demanded our names. I responded with, "who are you?" to which she responded, "I AM AN OFFICER'S WIFE". The three of us just cracked up, almost literally rolling of the floor. So I told her my name and unit just to show respect. The next day the post AG visited our company and we were each called separately into our CO's office. I was commanded to recount what happened at the theater. The AG, a colonel, asked me to describe the woman to which I responded, "An older lady with long black stringy hair who wouldn't keep quiet". I noticed my CO was sliding down in his chair. Yep, you guessed it - it was the AG's wife. He responded, "Son, I am the husband of the officer's wife and you described her correctly. There will be no further action."

Completely false. Billet over rank is a concept that gives military law enforcement arrest and detainment authority over all ranks. Without it, the UCMJ requires that only officers of higher rank can make arrests. It has NO relevance on other aspects of military life or decorum. Don’t forget that an enlisted billet is factually never higher ranked than any commissioned billet.

When i did my military service in Austria, we had many officers acting like that. On December 31st we knew that the "Kommandant der Streitkräfte" was gonna visit. Like the 2nd most important person in line. He was transported in an unassuming VW Passat and we had alert level alpha, so everyone HAD to show their ID and get controlled for increased body temperature(Covid). Greeted them in the car formally and neutrally like everyone else. The other guys told me that they didn't wanna do the control since he's so high ranking. I ignored that(as always) and asked for ID from the driver and the officer. The driver had it ready but the officer was acting like "Don't you know me?" Of course i knew it was him since there was a picture of our most important military leaders in every building. "Sir, since we currently have alert level alpha, we have to control everyone entering and leaving the facility. Please show me ur ID" He mumbled sth about that this was unnecessary and that he didnt have time for that, but showed me his ID anyways. I let them pass and after the whole greeting ceremony for the guy he sent someone to get me. He asked me why i asked for ID even though i knew his face. I simply quoted the rules that come with alpha and he just said "Good job" and dismissed me

I read that in Germany they have like a double authority system for stuff like this. First there is regular ranks but if a spesific job equires someone to have authority rank doesn’t matter. Basically a private on guard duty can stop a colonel and he’d have the authority.

You still salute the rank over here. He has the authority but he salutes the rank. Its a sign of respect simple as. Its not a "I condone your shit" its like a greeting, a very formal handshake if you will. If you refuse to do it, youre disrespecting the authority of the higher ranks and you can get shit for it. Most of the time, german officers arent that stingy when they know they fucked up, but maybe they had a driver and were reading a news paper while some random Hauptgefreiter comes around and tries to big dick them

God that's so true. I remember dropping by a MOC when an NCO was politely informing a butter bar about some mistakes he'd made in scheduling missile maintenance or something. whatever it was it was a pretty big deal and they had his back but just wanted to educate him for the future. He said something to the effect of "What are they gonna do? Bust me down to chief?" As fate would have it he said that just as the grisly old Chief of Missile Maintenance for the Squadron walked in behind him. With out missing a beat the Chief said, "Nah, they'll just send your ass to Leavenworth."

There is no need to show up your authority, in a militarized way a reasonable person would understad to follow the proper protocol to pass a Security Checkpoint. High ranking officers have the privileges earn thru out the years enlisted member and High ranking officers deserve to be treated with respect. Example Donald Trump is a good example, he earn his privilege becoming a president of the United States of America.

@@1.1797 Honestly, I only ask because I've recently learned that, "Enki and the Elders have no connection with Satanism or any branch of Satanism, except just an handful of their ideological teachings being the same and the biggest reason is because of abrahamic religions portrayal of Enki as 'satan' which holds absolutely no truth." It seems some ancients have demonized much of the older ancient history. I could be wrong, like I said just asking.
@1.17972 жыл бұрын
@@Kingkai360 Christianity was partially created as a means of control. Thus the demonization of the elder gods. So, while the name satan, even though it doesn't appear in the old testament, is used in referring to him, its more or less just a common name at this point. Depends on whats in your heart when you use. The position you're coming from. Some other names of his are Ea, Enki, Melek Taus, etc. Different names from different times, yet same person.

@@1.1797 where can I go to learn of these things. I don't understand satanism but I see alot of appealing aspects to it. (I think Christianity is evil but Christ himself was a good man, but not worth idolizing. Christ was clearly a proto socialist and a progressive person)

Back in the service as Navy Master at Arms, pulling over officers never gave me any problems. They were the first ones to admit they were on the wrong. And just because they were in the wrong doesn’t mean you can lose bearing and yell back at them. They can get a worthless citation but make your life a living hell for the duration of your duty station. Respect and discipline are a given. If by any chance they are not cooperating call a supervisor. People sometimes forget what being in the military is all about.
